The San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed 14 players to reserve/future contracts, securing depth and developmental talent for the upcoming offseason. All 14 players finished the 2025 NFL season on the 49ers' practice squad and will carry over into the 2026 league year.
Players signed to reserve/future contracts:
Reserve/future contracts allow NFL teams to retain the rights to players who were not on the active roster at the end of the season. These deals officially take effect at the start of the new league year on March 11, at which point the players will count against the salary cap.
By signing these players now, the 49ers ensure some continuity heading into the offseason, while creating competition for roster spots as the team begins preparations for the 2026 NFL season.
