Just say its Matt Ryan so we can stop this silly game.

Quarterbacks who do not complete 60% of their passes flop in the pros, so you can cross Locker off the list.
you talk about a silly game but you throw in a silly sentence though you have a counter evidence for at least one guy who is VERY good right now...

It is not that interesting to have to decipher a jumbled mess of stats
what about using your brain???

Its really not worth my time
If someone currently in the building makes the descision about what QB we take-if we take a QB-I will cease to be a 49ers fan...seriously. Jed-I have a silver spoon up my ass-York makes that decision with is moron of a head-scout make that decision we are totally screwed for another 10 years.

wut?
"Quarterbacks who do not complete 60% of their passes in college flop in the pros, so you can cross Locker off the list."
ryan also completed less than 60% of his passes in one season, it was his last, not his first!!!

THATS ONE SEASON!!!

LOCKER HASNT COMPLETED 60% OF HIS PASSES IN ANY SEASON!!!

60% OF PASSES IN A CAREER

/caps lock for emphasis
oh yeah...how could i forget that he was SLIGHTLY over 60% in his other two seasons...what a significant number...
name me some franchise-qbs, who had sub-60%-completions in college and failed in the nfl.

____

There are only TWO quarterbacks in the last 10 years that have had sub-60% completion rates in college that went on to have success in the NFL.

Vick is one (and even that took 6-7 years and a second team).

Guess the other...

Point is... If a first or second round QB does not have a 60% or higher completion rate... he will be a bust.

that's your argument??? i see vick, cutler and palmer on the "bad" side either...are those guys busts?
it's one thing to have some stats, which backup your arguments, it's another thing whether those stats are supportable in terms of common cause interdependence/spurious regression.

Palmer is just plain terrible right now, Vick is finally doing something in the passing game, and Culter the jury is still out on.
Luck, Mallett and Newton will be off the board when we pick. The only question is do you like Locker enough to use a first round pick on him?

If we don't make the playoffs we will pick top ten and there will probably be a higher rated player. If we make the playoffs and pick in the low twenties he will probably be our pick.

yeah, but everyone of you stated that he was really good before his injury...and he wasn't that bad last season.
and how many years does cutler has to be a starter until the jury thinks that he is not a bust???

did i say sth about a top10 pick for locker in the last weeks???
I have argued that stats are overrated...not more, not less. it can be a first indication for some weaknesses, if any.

In looking up info on Matt Ryan (for another post) I came across Dominique Davis, who seems to have had a very similar career to Cam Newton and to my surprise played against him last season. He started off his career in 2008 with Boston College, but was suspended for academic reasons in June 2009 and decided to transfer.

He announced his decision to transfer to Fort Scott Community College, where he was going to play one season and transfer back to a D1 school.

Davis helped lead Fort Scott Community College to its first Jayhawk Conference championship since 1974, defeating Butler (Kansas) Community College in the final game of the regular season. Butler had won the previous eight Jayhawk Conference championships.

Two weeks later, in a rematch, Davis' FSCC team defeated Butler, 13-12, to give the Greyhounds their first-ever Region VI Playoff championship. The Greyhounds were given the No. 1 ranking in the national poll and were matched up against No. 2 Blinn College (Texas) for the National Junior College Athletic Association national championship in the Citizens Bank Bowl on the campus of Pittsburg State University. Blinn rallied from a 26-10 deficit in the second half to win the game 31-26 on an 84-yard punt return with 15 seconds remaining.

As we all know the Quarterback on that Blinn team was none other than Cam Newton.

Davis transferred to East Carolina University for the 2010 season.

Quote:
He has established East Carolina single-season records in touchdown passes (36), attempts (552), completions (358) and passing yards (3,699) this fall. The 36 TD passes are tied for the sixth-most in a year by a Conference USA quarterback, while his attempts and completions this season are the second and third most, respectively, by a C-USA signal-caller. Davis leads C-USA in passing yards per game (308.2) and stands second in total offensive yards per game (320.1). He is one of four QBs at the FBS level averaging 300+ passing yards per game. Davis has accounted for 45 of the team's 58 offensive touchdowns and leads all FBS players in points per game responsible for (22.7) and completions per game (29.8) while tying for the lead in total touchdown passes (36).

He will play in the 2010 Military Bowl on December 29th, not quiet sure what kind of prospect he will be (6'3", 218lbs, Junior, 21 yrs old, 40 Time: 4.74), but now I have a reason to check out a game i would probably not care about.

Quote:
Junior QB Dominique Davis of East Carolina garnered the league's Newcomer of the Year award.

QB-Dominique Davis, Jr., East Carolina, has been selected All-Conference USA Honorable Mention for the 2010 college football season as selected by the league's 12 head football coaches.

That's three guys out of how many though? The point is chances are VERY slim that you will get a legit starter if his completion percentage was less than 60% with a low number of starts as well.

I don't know about P-Williy but I would package up Crabtree to move up for Luck.

I started reading this response and went from to . Honestly.

I wouldn't trade either of those guys. Or Frank. Or The Disease. I wanna see the Senior Bowl & Combine then get the pro day reports before I can really determine if I'd be willing to trade next year's first to move up or not (for one of the QB's in this class). Undecided on the guy I think we should go after.

Honestly Kris, if it took Crabtree and not a monster trade to get Luck, I'd be all for it. At this point Crabtree is replaceable.

Ditto. Craptree is pissing me off. He needs to learn how to play consistent and f**king work

we could spend a look above the horizontal line and you will see a lot of 60+ completion guys, who are not a big help for their respective teams.
