Exactly in fact here are a couple posts from a couple people not if favor of Mahomes then or Cousins now
From poster #1
just cause you have a strong arm doesn't mean s**t in the league. He will take yrs to figure out the WCO IMHO. Let him be someone else long project
I'd take Peterman over mahomes...Myles top WR at 34 and peterman in the 3rd
From poster #2
If the 49ers got him in the 4th-7th round I'd be OK with that. 1st or 2nd round hell no, expectations would be too high on a QB that needs a lot of growing to do.
I'd honestly take Luke Falk over Mahomes any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Nathan Peterman was the biggest game changing QB I've ever seen play the position

Of course he is on the trading block , Viking just don't think anyone is stupid enough to trade for him .
Same with us and Jimmy G .

As long as the compensation is reasonable, I'd have zero issue with Cousins. The 49ers made it to a SB with a healthy Garoppolo. Cousins can do everything that Garoppolo can do and then some, most importantly, he can stay healthy and you can depend on him to play game after game. Add Cousins to this roster and this is a playoff team while giving the front office more time to pick out their QB of the future.
That said, I don't buy that this is a real rumor as much as some guy throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping something sticks.

Nate the Great can't hear you over the sound of this clutch TD throw in a freaking blizzard. Kelvin Benjamin was so juiced after this touchdown, he went and closed down three Chinese all you can eat buffets that night.
Three years ago today, I filmed Nathan Peterman throw a touchdown to Kelvin Benjamin.

In all fairness I too was a HUGE Nathan Peterman fan. I was wanting him in the 2nd. Pounding the table for him in fact.
Yea that one doesn't look good on the resume

The hate for Cousins is just bizarre... every time his name is brought up on any site, I see people explaining objectively why Cousins is a good QB, and even MORE people screaming that he sucks with no evidence that he actually does. It's the strangest thing.

I thought Rosen was gonna be like Peyton Manning. So I've given up "scouting" QBs cause I clearly don't know what I'm doing

This is a face that seems to provoke extreme rage in some people.
Cousins wouldn't be my first, second or third choice but he would be an upgrade over Garoppolo and would buy the 49ers time to find their QBOTF and not force them to get desperate and wind up picking whatever QB is just sitting there.

It's become the thing to do. I bet the majority of people hating Kirk have never watched him play. No, he's not Mahomes or Brady, but he's pretty damn good. He's better than the current iteration of Jimmy. That's not a question. He's smarter than Jimmy, more athletic than Jimmy, he's got a bigger arm than Jimmy, and he's significantly more durable than Jimmy.
If they can get him for a few throwaway day-three picks, I'd do it for sure.

If you're looking at the draft and you don't like any QB you see, if you're calling about Watson and the Texans demands are absolutely ludicrous, if it comes down to Garoppolo or dropping a few later picks for Cousins, I'd easily choose the latter. At least have some stability at QB, then keep looking for a long term solution via trade or in the draft next year.
