That would be nice, however, at his age (whatever that actually is), he would probably say no to a short term deal.

In this pass happy league, someone is going to give him a multi-year deal with some protection against loss of playing time due to injury.

He may get that offer. But I doubt it would afford him the upside he would prefer. A one-year fully guaranteed deal with a chance to hit the market again in 2020 could allow him to maximize his value AND protect him for injury.

Yeah, That's essentially what the article I read on him the other night said. What got me thinking about this.

I would be very surprised that a long term deal for Ansah would minimize his risk of being released in 2020 should his injury issue pop up again. Regardless, it's all about the guaranteed money.
Would love to add Dante Fowler jr, he will hit FA next month.
This would give us options come draft day, would be a great fit in our front .

2 of them and a good draft and we'd be rollin
All eyes on Fowler. Texans Place a Franchise Tag on Clowney. Lawrence is comming up to Next.

Is Fowler a best available fit for us?
Hell no on fowler. There are better options. I have no clue why people think so highly of this dude.

What are the better options?

Preston smith, Za'Darius Smith, shaq Barrett, Olivier Vernon assuming he is cut.

Only if we think we have some money to put at risk. He will get paid a lot more than his performance would justify.

Better to draft Bosa and roll from there. Fowler would completely upset the salary structure.

Once Graham resigned he became my favorite.

Preston Smith is a Sam Linebacker, Fowler is a Leo. Not the same position at all.

Smith moved around a fair bit. Sam mostly but showed enough to be worth a look.

I would welcome both.

We play base downs only 28% of the time. Preston would be a leo in the nickel which is what we play the majority of the time.

Also Justin Houston is getting released. I'd also want him more than Fowler. He had more sacks in 12 games last year than Fowler has had in any season.
