Odell Beckham

In this thread, 49er fans believe Suh and Odell going to the rams is a good thing for the 49ers and also jimmy G is actually Jesus and even a defensive line full of polar bears couldn't stop him.
After sleeping on it, i would offer #9. No one there that can help us more or offer a bigger impact. We have the cap space easy. Extending him would not cause any long term issues, unless he ended up in trouble outside of football. We have plenty of space, and the cabinet is pretty bare when it comes to needing to extend our own players to big contracts. The timing is honestly perfect.

Could you imagine ODB and Goodwin as bookends, with Garcon in the slot?

Would be the best WR group in the league.

Jimmy G might actually turn into Jesus with OBJ to throw to
I'm definitely on board with us trading for ODB. Unfortunately, it's not going to happen. The regime is a bit too conservative. We are like the anti-Rams. Lol

Once again, you ignore the point.

Great. Let me backtrack then:

-My original point was that we should focus on winning the division for a guaranteed playoff spot
-Your reply is that we play the Rams twice and, as such, we can lose both games and still win the division.
-My point was that regardless of whether we lose or beat the Rams in both games, the Rams have a superior squad and it is highly probable the finish with a better record than us overall and get the 1st place spot. If they do, we have to hope for a wild card spot
-Your reply was that the Jags and Titans had more talent than us and that didn't work out well for them
-My reply was that the Jags had to play the GOAT.
-You claimed I missed the point

Conclusion: Rams have a much better team that is only getting even better and we aren't doing anything to address that. The draft won't be enough. We aren't winning the NFC West. Not now and most likely not next year. Stop trying to deflect the argument. We are a vastly inferior team to Los Angeles. That's the point. We may still get a Wild Card spot, but there are also an assortment of teams in the NFC who are flat-out better than the Niners right now too.

Stop with the hyperbole.

The argument that people are wary to give up huge draft capital and invest 20 mil/year for a guy who is a major diva and was video taped around illegal activity, is a legitimate concern.

I'd rather this team build for the long haul instead of a flash in the pan powder keg. If the price is right on OBJ, then pull the trigger, but as it stands right now, no f**king way. Pass.

I'm not sure you know what hyperbole is. But posters in this thread have actually said it's a good thing if they get Suh and Odell. And Suh wouldn't be able to touch jimmy g bc of his release. That's not hyperbolic.

I've always said there are concerns. That's obvious. But many posters like to make up stuff that there is no evidence of (being a bad teammate and bad off the field with no arrests).

They aren't getting 2 firsts for him. Fans worry too much about the salary cap. Who cares. We can afford him and that's all that matters. You can't have good players and not pay them.

I'll be stoked. I'll be even more stoked when put together a competitive squad and compete for a playoff spot at some point.

well Rome wasn't built in one off season
Why are people so frightened of the Rams?

No team that has won the offseason has won the championship since the mid 90s... pre-salary cap. And while talent is important, it takes a team to win a championship. Every team post salary cap that loaded up for a championship run has failed in the season they were supposed to win it all.

Lets not get it twisted, if OBJ didnt have so much mental baggage 2 first round picks would seem like a steal for him if this team is truly one legit WR away from a championship... but then trade talks would never even be discussed. Nor would anybody really be excited by him going to the rams, some fans are just trying to find the silver lining if that does happen

But again, so what? We got a D-line full of first round picks, a QB who can sustain drives with unproven vets and rookies... really we are an edge rusher or two away from being able to compete in any game with any team even if they have an allstar roster... and then it comes down to who can win the last two minutes. Just look at the Broncos recently, loaded up for Manning, brought in Emmanuel Sanders, signed DT to a big contract, broke every record on offense in 2013... but then finally won when Manning had half an arm, the offense was horrid and the most impactful player and why they won the championship during that run was a draft pick in Von Miller.

TL:DR: Paper Tigers and offseason champs typically crumple by the end of the season.

It was in Washington, and once in Philly. And that empire fell...short.

Those were Babylons
I hope the 9ers pass on OBJ.

1) Too much Draft capital (based on the rumors)
2) Too much $$$$$ (even for a top flight receiver. He is very good, but......)
3) Coming off an Injury (Major ankle surgery)
4) DIVA all in CAPS
5) DRAMA Queen.

Thanks, but no thanks
