100% with you on this. I keep checking here hoping we just do it. Just front load these guys and if they don't work cut them. I greedily want him and Zach Brown. But once can only wish I guess.

why hasnt any one else signed him??

I think he's playing hard ball.

I like this guy. He's a hard worker IMO, and he's still only 25 (as of last week). Give him a 5-year contract. He's worth every penny, and the Niners have an obscene amount of money to spend. In fact, I'm wondering if they're not going to be forced to pay the current squad more because of the CBA.
Slightly off topic, but whatever.

I like him as a player but whenever I see the name hankins I start singing that damn "Mr hanky the Christmas poo" song from south park in my head.

Anyone else have this disorder?

Nope lol. That was a wayyyyy thing of the past for me and got over it after a couple years. Too much sauce.
we signed Mitchell to play NT, and we can either re-sign one of our guys (Dorsey??), and draft a good player. I'd love to have Hankins, but don't think we will need him AND Mitchell , esp. on 3rd downs.

With Hankins, it appears that Kevin Poston is up to his old tricks. Poston's contract demands for Hankins have been "outrageous," according to a league source. One report indicates that Hankins' camp has been seeking more than $10 million annually, which would be more than All-Pro teammate Damon Harrison.

As long as he does his job and stuffs the run which is the goal.. hopefully he's off the field after first down. Not everyone needs to be a 3 down player. Why do you think Hankins is still out there? Teams see him as a 2 down player probably and simply don't think it's worth it due to they can find someone else to do the job cheaper, and possibly better by being a 3 down player.

Actually it might be a good idea to leave him out on 1st and 2nd, then put him in on passing downs

"According to PFF, Mitchell was actually better agains the pass than the run. They gave him 39.2 grade (out of 100) vs. the run, and 74.9 in pass rush. They had similar grades for him in 2015. This past year, they ranked him No. 16 out of 68 defensive tackles in their pass rush productivity rating (15 QB pressures in 158 pass rushes)."

Agreed, but I'd be a lot happier if the Niners had Hankins as well, so they could spell each other. Mitchell is a great DEPTH player, IMO.

I get wanting Hankins, he's a decent player. The dude wants waaaaaay more than he's worth though. I see no way they invest 5 mil in Mitchell and another 8+mil in Hankins for a 1 technique. Better off resigning Dorsey cheap or drafting a guy.

i think our disinterest in Hankins is a good indication that we are getting Solomon or have a DT target in mind in the early rounds

I think adding Mitchell removes the 1 tech as a glaring hole. They may draft zero d lineman and roll with Defo, AA and Mitchell as starters. Our disinterest could simply indicate that Hankins thinks he's worth a he'll if a lot more than he really is. At this point his agent is probably praying a starting DT goes down with an injury and a team gets desperate. We have so many holes that BPA should be all Lynch is concerned with draft day. Not going to fix everything in one offseason.

Or we see someone in the mid to later rounds to develop and stop the run. Thomas or not with AA/Buck/Blair we're fine at DT on PASS downs.

Possibly. Or they're just gonna settle for young guys in a rebuilding year.

I hope what they're doing is waiting for some veterans to get cut for cap space.
