If you're a top 20 rated FA your agents is taking calls for you and you tell him yes or no then show up to sign the deal. Most of the good FA already agreed to terms the day before FA contracts could be signed.

ok. no free agent who has been signed, to my knowledge, has come out and said,,. well the niners called me but i was not interested. Trust me, if someone would have said that people like timmy k would be all over that just to bash the team

We had solid pieces before Jim showed up. They got Goodwin to solidify the OL with a couple more pieces. Along with good coaching we were awesome.

We had a chance to do the exact same thing with Mack on the market. Problem is I don't see good FA wanting to come here.

Huge difference between signing Goodwin and Mack. About $24 million in guaranteed money.

EDIT: Signing a 'Goodwin' today would be Will Montgomery or Lyle Sendlein.

I don't think we had $60m is cap space back then?

We didn't but Goodwin wasn't even close to the player mack is and the cash was worlds different. I don't think Mack wanted to go to another rebuild either.

Do you guys always do this? I am not comparing Goodwin to Mack

I'm comparing bringing in a FA to help the team.

We have brought in NO ONE

We have the money to bring in the best FA in the game and we have NOTHING

I think Stefen Wisniewski wold be more comparable then Mack when talking about Goodwin and I totally agree with you that we needed to bring in some sort of depth at OL.

Every day on NFL radio they say if you have the cap space you need to use it. Building a foundation through the draft is fine but you have to add the pieces in FA to compete.

Trent is acting like he's in no danger of being fired. If there are no additions to the OL or pass rush I really don't see them making it to an 8-8 season.

It makes more sense to build a foundation through the draft and have a 7 or 8 win team that is a FA infusion away from competing for the playoffs. I mean I don't agree with what we are doing, because there were guys young enough that we could have signed that still would have been at a good age when we are ready to compete in a year or 2, i do see the process behind it though. If you spend a lot when you are not good, it hinders your chances to start spending when you become a competitive team.

We have nowhere near the talent we had before JH showed up as opposed to now.

Why would a player come out and say that? Only people who may know that for sure is the player and his agent.

Sean Smith was said to be a player the 49ers were going after before FA started. The night before he signed it was said 3 teams were in play. SD, OAK, SF. He picked OAK. Either Trent and Paraag are super cheap or no one likes them.

Oh and the fact that the only FA we have signed in a 3rd string QB. lol

Im with you. I would have signed 2 top OL guys, 1 top DL guy, and a CB and went after skill positions all over the draft while mixing in depth for the line positions.
Anyone visiting the team?

And that is why I think Kaepernick SHOULD NOT be brought back.
