Danny Trevathan at 4 years, $28 million. Great deal for a stud linebacker. Missed on this opportunity.

The Raiders are using their cap space to highlight their new credibility; the 49ers are using theirs for... for... ? http://bayareane.ws/1R8petm
This is pathetic.

So what's the point of having all this cap space if we aren't going to even bring in 2nd tier guys? I'm lost

I'd bet the house you were one of those guys singing this same song right before we signed Nate Clements. Fast forward two years:

"OMG HE SUCKS WHY DID WE SIGN HIM OUR FO IS TEH JOKE!!!!"

Devey and Larsen are depth. Simmer down.

You're making a huge assumption right there considering the glaring hole we have at LG right now.

I don't think anyone is arguing that you build an entire team though FA. But you have to add pieces through FA like Denver did is what we are saying.

Go look at how Denver was built. Start in 2009 and go through each season until 2012. Where did the vast majority of their players come from? The draft. By 2012 they had a nice quality core of drafted players put together which is when they began really dipping into FA.

You use FA to supplement what you have already but if you have holes all over the place, it doesnt make sense to spend lavishly on FA's if you wont be competing for awhile.

If they struggle next season, then they get another high pick in a draft with much better players at the very top and the true franchise kind of cornerstones that allow you to supplement around them to go after a SB.

Wait....

They aren't but we are now tiered in that group. Poor FO decisions and poor personnel moves.
Re-signed Ian Williams.

Saw Denver become a realistic trade partner for CK.

Didn't spend ridiculous money on anyone

Remain in the race for Sean Smith.

Today has been a good day for SF.
