Nnamdi Asomugha was a 49er

He almost had a pick, tipped it to spillman.
Aso was the 3rd corner today ahead of Brock. Good news.

Per @PFF ... #49ers CB Nnamdi Asomugha has allowed one catch for 5 yards in 36 coverage snaps in preseason.

Don't flame me for this but I think Nnamdi is an upgrade over Culliver.

At the very least, a great pickup for cheap (a.la. a Baalke move)

Tough to know until real games are played. Culliver was solid for the first 2/3 of last season. Nnamdi has looked good so far, but let's be realistic about our corners so far; they haven't been challenged by QB's that can hit receivers regularly. Manning played just 1 series, Smith rarely targets WR's, and Ponder/Cassel are Ponder/Cassel.
Not sure how many of you guys were paying attention to him at the snap, but his press was DESTROYING the Vikings WRs. A few times Ponder wanted to go his direction but had no choice but to tuck the ball in. I believe Kevin Lynch pointed that out during the Chiefs game as well. I just want to see him tested deep against the speedsters to see how he reacts. If he gets his hands on opposing WRs, he will be just fine. Nnamdi just looks rejuvenated and I see the same swag he had during his Oakland days. He hasn't been shy to get up in the box and stick someone and that is VERY important with this team. Our CBs are some of the best tackling DBs in the game and were a huge reason why opposing WRs had a league low YAC.

Brock also played well which was good to see.

Cox had a tough performance but he was never in the competition for the job anyways.
Nnamdi has had a very good preseason & hope it continues into the regular season.
Nmandi should win the 3rd CB spot Brock & Cox struggled imo

I wonder if it would be better to start Brown and Nnamdi and put Rogers in the slot.

you do understand that's exacly what happens when we play a nickel defense, right?

yeah just cut Daniels

Of course that is what happens in the slot, but that wasn't his point. Rogers still sees the field around 35-40% more and he is wondering if it would be better to reverse that.

Not true at all on the Brock front. He has performed well in preseason but yesterday was bad game for Cox. Who knows what happens in practice though.
