I agree he did do well in the regular season, but when it really counted there is no other words to describe the way he played other then fail.

He said some stupid stuff before the biggest game of his life and then followed that up by playing a horrible game.
He wasn't good enough in the regular season to forget that stinker of a Super Bowl.

What ppl haven't mentioned is that this signing and impending competition allows for several options:
  • The FO now has leverage in renegotiating Carlos Rogers' contract THIS year (or release; even with dead money - only 1M savings this year.)
  • Explore a FS move from Nnamdi and/or Culliver
  • Competition, competition, competition. Rogers' half-assed it ALL year long. He's on watch from this moment on.
  • Veteran savy. We can still draft a taller, physical, aggressive, talented CB who can develop behind guys such as Nnamdi/Rogers/Brown.

Why would you release Rogers to save 1M against the cap? He was a good corner
Agreed. We shouldn't release him. But I do think we should take a look at him at FS and use him much the same GB used Charles Woodson.
I've been doing nothing but b***hing for the past couple of months.

I'm very happy the front office was able to get this done...please now sign Woodson....or like someone suggested, move Cully to Free Safety. I know some don't believe in Brock, but I think he will step up along with Cox.

I know what he can do there. Misread, jump the gun and get burnt over and over. Much like at CB.

He shouldn't have sucked horse c*** in the sb, still remember seeing some of the worst cb play in the sb. Forget the homophobic slurs during media day, it's not like he got arrested days before the sb

I don't hate culliver an I do remember his ups during the season but there's no damn excuse to play like Sammy Davis and mike rumph in the biggest game of your life. That's my biggest gripe with the guy; the constant holdings, lack of ball skills looking back for the ball and just the flat out burning. Him and Whitner were by far the worst players on the team that got legit playing time, if they played anything remotely close to NFL caliber we would've been champs. Anyways it's a moot point now

I don't think it would be about saving 1M against the cap, but more about him making 7 mil to play only the slot. Unless Nnamdi takes Culliver's role and only comes in at LCB in nickel situations, but I don't think the coaching staff wants to take their young up and coming CB off the field for a guy who would only be around for 1 year.
I want to know which is the truth, did Nnamdi really want no guarenteed money or did Baalke somehow contruct that?
I like the pickup. Good job by the FO. And like Afrikan just stated, now bring in Woodson to man the FS spot and we're set.

I really do not think the niners or anyone has any interest in woodson, i think we have shot our wad on free agency and i really really think they are fine with getting two rookies in the draft, throwing who they got together in a pot and let the best man come out to play safety,, i am really fine with that. i really do not think we can afford woodson or anyone else right now
Holy s**t ! What did I missed going home from work

Did we just stole the offseason championship trophy from the Shehawks.

So this
it probably has to do with the oprah crowd who got their feelings hurt because of what he said about gay people. hell kyle williams f**ked up, came back and was putting together a nice season. i am really unsure why some niner fans want to give well below average players like manny lawson, taylor mays, arnez battle and whoever else chance after chance and pray for the day they come back to the niners but have so much illogical hate for a good young kid with lots of potential

we actually did not sign victor cruz
Sweet deal. If we can get Woodson for cheap (maybe a multiyear contract), our starting squad could be set and we could use the draft to develop depth / future stars.

Baalke giving Fangio his horses for a chance to be a great defense.
