Nnamdi Asomugha was a 49er

i totally agree, and i think moving culliver to fs is a bad move. he's doing just fine at cb
At 6'2 215 -- could Nnamdi be moved to FS ...
nice contract. good job baalke.

Nnamdi Asomugha struggled in Eagles' schemes and without safety help. In San Francisco, with a good pass rush, he'll be better. #49ers

We're not going to find anyone of Goldson's caliber at this point. At least not someone that will have an immediate impact next season. I expect the team to draft a safety this year, but chances are he's going to play like any other rookie. What we need is someone to come as close to Goldson's playmaking abilities as possible. Lets remember that our other safety was the weak spot, so we're already depleted in this dept. Woodson can serve as a bridge to the future. Not saying he'll be as good as Goldson, but he could serve as a mentor to our draftee.

i just want to find someone who can be respectable against the run and pass, not make drive extending penalties for the other team and make an open field fundamental tackle. i think you can find a rookie safety who can start right away. it would not be a first in the history of the nfl

I agree, especially since this draft seems to have quite a few good looking S prospects. Harrison Smith and Mark Barron both started for there respective teams as rookies last year and did ok on much weaker defensive units than ours.

Cant argue with you there. The guy does like to extend plays for the opposition. I would be happy either way. If he signs with us, Id want him for cheap like Nnamdi.
Wow. I'm stoked. Who the heck do we have playing corner right now? Rogers, Brown, Asomugha, Brock, Culliver?? Looking forward to our new safety rounding out the bunch.

well its apparant by the deal that NN has no ego to bruise and is ok with a one year incentive based deal. I think that is the only way he was going to become a niner and i think that is the only way charles becomes a niner. we will now see if charles has an ego . if he does he will not be in a niner uniform this year. i also chuckle when i go back to three weeks ago and people were screaming that if we did not sign NN RIGHT GOD DAMN NOW, the world will end,, the niners did what they do. they set a value, they stick to it and they wait it out

The problem is that again, his greatest strength is an in-your-face, press, man-to-man cover guy, a corner who will match up with tall receivers, rough them up at the line of scrimmage, and stick with them. They didn't use him that way in Philly. Playing safety would not be using him that way. Harbaugh and his staff are real good at figuring out what a player does best and putting the player in a position to do what they do best. So, I expect Nnamdi to be pressing receivers for the Niners and not much of anything else. And, that's good. Basically, with him, they can pick a larger opponent receiver and remove him from the game plan. I think Nnamdi is that good at what he does. And, he's going to be motivated to the max. He'll play like a madman. I'm so looking forward to watching him do his thing.

You are forgetting Perish Cox who IMO is much better than Brock.

My prediction is we add a multi-dimensional cb in the first 3 rounds (ie. Tyrann Mathieu, Robert Alford) and carry 1 more corner than usual due to their ST/PR/KR ability and have Culliver learn some safety so he can be the primary backup at both corner/safety.

Rogers
Asomugha
Brown
Culliver
Mathieu
Cox (Fringe Cut)
Watch how bad the Zone melts down if/when Baalke doesn't draft a S in the first 3 picks LMAO
I wanted sign Woodson because He is pretty good a coverage and tackle that he can do both! Asomuha is only one for best coverage and weak is tackle! I need Asomuha must improve for tackle!

I love reading his posts - that's what helped me get through April Fool's day here
