Im surprised the steelers are letting this guy go. I think he'd be a great edition to our team, he'd be a perfect fit

I'm really not shocked, they kicked Holmes out, than Mike Wallace and now him. For real though they have been really good coaching up wr's, H. Ward, Plaxico to name a few other that came from them.

Same with their linebackers, they're really good at developing

nice. the steelers are really good at letting players walk, and for the most part they walk and really don't do much elsewhere except a minor few. Nothing about sanders impresses me. if he was so good he would've been resigned. he's mediocre and is a #3 at best.

There are reasons the Steelers let him walk.
Who knows?
Work ethic, locker room poison, he's hit his peak???

Naw they can't afford to resign, they had 3.35 million until ike taylor redid his deal than they were up to 8.1. That's what happens when you pay a Qb 19 million a season, you can't afford to keep any talent around him.

no cap room. they have massive success in the middle rounds with receivers and they've told Roethlisberger that they are targeting big WRs this year, i.e. Evans, Bryant, etc.
Sanders is a fantastic blocker, great work ethic, you could argue he's hit his ceiling if you really nit pick but he is great #3 / low end #2 no matter how you look at it.

He could end up being the player we expected Manningham to be for us when we signed him

I would take him over Edelman.

I'm glad they're looking at Sanders. And Edelman. I've been hoping we would get a receiver of that style.
There are always good players that teams let walk. Usually $$$ is the primary reason. Could be scheme, or they have other options, or the player wants to leave, or any number of any other things. It doesn't necessarily, and usually doesn't, mean that the team thinks they suck.

This. Take 1 WR, 1 CB, 1 DL, 1 S, 1 C and trade the rest of the picks to other teams to stockpile next year lol.

Just saw this on Rotoworld regarding Sanders:
ESPN reports free agent Emmanuel Sanders may not receive the long-term contract he wants due to medical concerns regarding his feet.
Sanders has a screw in each of his feet and was limited by a foot injury the last two months of 2014. He is reportedly looking for something close to the five-year, $31 million, $13 million guaranteed deal Golden Tate received from the Lions, but his injury history should put that kind of money out of reach. Sanders may have to settle for a one or two-year deal. He is our No. 5 remaining free-agent wide receiver.

That would be nice. Then who do we take in the draft? Probably BPA. Trade up and down for studs and next year.
