Pittsburgh tendered this guy at a third round level at the start of the offseason.
He's young (26), has vertical speed, goes over the middle, and can return kicks and punts.
Sanders reminds me of Boldin at his age. The only knock has been his hands and a faked injury on prime time television.
With two third round picks, I'd love to see the Niners extend a offer sheet to Sanders.

Watched him a lot last year. Mostly because the Stillers are on TV here and I grabbed him as a late round pick in fantasy. He has a ton of potential but it doesnt seem to show up for extended periods in games. I dont know if its focus, his raport with Ben, or just how they use him, but its clear the physical tools are there...he just doesnt produce for them the way you would want if your going to give up picks to aquire him. I will however admit, I am very keenly interested in seeing what he could do away from that offense.

You lost me with the Boldin comparison. He's a intriguing player but the problem is not a 3rd round pick its money. The 49ers don't have the cap flexabillity to front load a contract so that the steelers can't match.

This....Boldin at 26 is nothing like Sanders. Boldin supposedly ran a 4.72 at the combine....Sanders ran a 4.42 -- Not to mention Sanders weight at the combine was 5'11" 185 compared to Boldin at 6'1" 216.
This is a matter of principle that you compared to players who have absolutely nothing in common that I need to disagree. I like Sanders a lot because I watch the Steelers a lot but I really had a good laugh over this. Snagging Sanders would basically be insurance on Manningham not being fully recovered and only signed for 1 season and/or Jenkins not stepping up.

Boldin had a horrible combine. I'm merely talking about the tape, and their shared ability to make defenders miss after the catch.

I would rather see them do this then draft one. I think it would be a nice move!

It's just speculation, but his name popped up as a possible FA option. Could be the speed receiver we need. I wonder what his price tag will be, and if it's possible to sign him AND Boldin. I'd rather we sign a speed guy who is a proven commodity. I don't think we can afford another draft screw up, we're in SB contention right now. Whoever comes in has to be able to play.

They couldn't be any different, where the heck did you get this comparison from? Sanders is overrated, had some huge drops at the worst moments possible, that has pretty much been his calling card his entire career, not a good blocker, will be likely priced out of the 49ers range in addition.
The Boldin/Sanders comparison completely mystified me, they couldn't be anymore different as receivers.

He's an undrafted free agent. Will still likely be looking for more than the 49ers are willing to offer.

Yup,
It all comes down to the $$$.
49ers have to nail the draft. If they do, good things happen like Eric Reid. Base salary of about $1 million average for the next 4 years.

I like this dude. Decent siz decent speed and YOUNG. I also like Edelman too. I'd be happy with either one and we better end up with one of them.

I have been saying this for a few days now. He is a good receiver and returner. Speed to work the outside and move Boldin or Crabs into the slot (for 3 WR sets). I think he may be more expensive than people think, but here's hoping we can get him.
