I like this signing but I wonder if Armstead failed to impress at Leo that led them to make this move.
That is exactly what this means
Not sure about this. Armstead hasn't really been given any opportunity to either impress or otherwise at this position. I think what it means is, you can never have too much pass rush. Dude was available. We had the money. Bam. We have an organisation now which will go out and get what it wants.
Maybe... from what i have been hearing AA was the guy they "wanted" to fill that role... hard to say without camp, but id bet it's a little bit of both

I think his signing shows little confidence with the guys we have on the roster on the opposite side of Thomas. You would think that with all the young talent lined up at DE (Armstead, Lynch, Blair, Harold) that these guys would be getting serious reps. They are not signing Elvis to be a camp body, but a guy that will be: either a starter, or a heavy contributor.
Little vote of confidence for the prospectful LEO's on the roster.

Interesting. I'm always for signing as many pass-rushers as possible and seeing where the cream rises to the top, probably more than any other group. Competition has just been raised. Now Lynch or Carradine or Harold aren't guaranteed spots simply because we don't have enough competent folks on the squad. This is such a smart signing. Again, keeping pass-rush on the priority list is just brilliant. 2 year deal really means a 1-year deal says they'll be looking for the next great pass-rusher in the draft next year.

At best at this point in his career Dumervil will be a rotational guy.

"[The Achilles] is way better. I can perform," Dumervil said. "I'm happy with the decision I made. Now, I don't have that lingering, 'Is it going to pop or is something going to happen?' It was good move. Now, I can go in the offseason and be healthy. I'm excited about that."
But will Dumervil be working this offseason with the Ravens? Dumervil has Baltimore's fourth-highest salary-cap number ($8.375 million) in 2017, and the Ravens would save $6 million by releasing him.
"I don't worry about those things," Dumervil said. "I know what I can do when I'm healthy. I didn't have real offseason training. It was kind of like camp and preseason types of games for me. I know the business part of it. I dealt with it in Denver. It's not personal. I know I have a lot in the tank, and it was probably a blessing in disguise that I didn't get a lot of mileage this year. I'm excited for next season in making sure that I'm in tip-top shape."

Yeah, and no secret there either. Edge rushing is by far, our #1 issue on defense. Brooks, Harold, Carradine, Pita, hell, even Lynch, better learn to bring the heat off this edge or this ol' man is going to kick you off the team or limit your ass to depth on the bench.
.. Had Seattle, NE. NO, or Oak. made this signing it'd be marked as a "cold calculating shrewd move" and wud get a 1,001 accolades. WE make the move, and we get all these damn ??????'s.. Jeez!
