I think he must have really sucked bad to be released from the talent-starved Rams, but Carpenter would be intriguing because he would not have a big learning curve:

He was in Dallas for a few years and learned the 3-4 defense Wade Philipps took with him from San Diego, the same base system our very own Greg Manusky uses. That was the reason Wilhelm was able to adapt quickly last season when signed from the street (he was in San Diego with Manusky before) and why Carpenter could be up to speed pretty fast if we would entertain signing him.

Then again, if he gets cut from the Rams, I think maybe we should better steer clear from him…

If he's better than Wilhelm, why not give him a shot?

Problem is, he's not.

I remember watching Hard Knocks when the Cowgirls were in it. Everyone was ragging on Carpenter because he was in the wrong place or doing something else wrong. I'm not sure if he could help our team.
I would like to see Dan Lefevour as our project QB over Nate Davis. Nate Davis has talent, but if he lacks the work ethic then I do not want him on this team. There is nothing to work on if he will not put in the work.

This team seriously needs CB help. I don't know anything about McDonald, but he sounds like he will be an upgrade over Brock.

I couldn't agree more. From the reports I've read on Davis, I wouldn't want a QB who just relies on physical talent. I remember Bill Walsh once said, The mental aspect is 75% about being a QB.

"During a shoulder pads-and-shorts practice at Valley Ranch, offensive linemen address third-year linebacker/bust Bobby Carpenter as “Barbie Carpenter” and a “punk ass b***h.” The most damning labels, however, come from coaches and management. Carpenter has been better in this year’s training camp, but it’s confounding how a football player really doesn’t like football. Defensive coordinator Brian Stewart: “I was hoping he’d be more physical, especially at the point of attack. But he wasn’t.” Linebackers coach Reggie Herring: “If he buys into the physical aspect of the game …” And, finally, owner Jerry Jones: “He’s a finesse guy.”

I think Wilhelm is better. Not physical so no way Sing takes him IMO.

The New Orleans Saints have waived WR Montez Billings, OL Brandon Carter, Na'Shan Goddard and Jermey Parnell, LB Harry Coleman, CB Reggie Jones, FB Zak Keasey, TE Tyler Lorenzen, FS Chip Vaughn and DL DeMario Pressley and Jay Ross, Al Woods, according to NewOrleansSaints.com.

Wasn't Baalke targeting Woods in the draft, I wonder if we pick him up. RJF's boy could be a solid addition to the PS.

Out of curiosity, where would you come across some information like that?

How about Coye Francies? He has some man coverage skills and was released by the Brownies.

How about just picking up Brandon McDonald, the other CB who was released by the Browns.
