I think he must have really sucked bad to be released from the talent-starved Rams, but Carpenter would be intriguing because he would not have a big learning curve:

He was in Dallas for a few years and learned the 3-4 defense Wade Philipps took with him from San Diego, the same base system our very own Greg Manusky uses. That was the reason Wilhelm was able to adapt quickly last season when signed from the street (he was in San Diego with Manusky before) and why Carpenter could be up to speed pretty fast if we would entertain signing him.

Then again, if he gets cut from the Rams, I think maybe we should better steer clear from him…

I highly doubt that Sing/Manusky would want the guy nicknamed "Barbie" Carpenter

Why any of you guys would want him is beyond me. The dude is soft. Anybody see the Hard Knocks with Dallas? Remember how they called him Barbie instead of Bobby?
