easy on the caps lock and i wouldnt do this trade merrimen only got his sacks thanks to his steroids his production has dropped tremendously after that and we would have to pay more for merrimen and he isnt worth the extra money for the upgrade we are getting if it were for haralson that would be a different story

It may have not been what was intended when he was drafted, but his value is in areas that do not show up on the stat sheet. We are better with him in, period.

As far as post juice merriman, bleh....
Ask little ass mjd how fierce he really is.

Lawson can be a very good, and valuable player for the 49ers if used correctly. The problem now is that they have NOT used him to best advantage so he now has NO trade value as other teams realize they can have him for free in FA.

49ers need to use him as an edge run defender and short cover man, along with certain blitz packages. In that way he will get them some value for the draft pick. If they don't they will be adding him to Balmer and Coffee as high draft picks that are no longer with the team. That stuff doesn't show up now as much as it will in 3-5 years when they will need those veteran players but will have nothing. The team is in a very difficult situation. They are going to have to either extend him for what they THINK he can be worth in the correct formations, or lose him and get NOTHING in return.

Good coaches put good players in situation where they can use their unique talents well. Hello....

Exactly what I would have said, Manny is worth more to our Defense than we as fans understand. He is a reason why 52 gets to do his thing... with lawson on the field Willis knows the side manny is on is in good hands.

I hope we can keep Lawson, but VD and Goldson are priorities... unless reggie smith has a probowl season somehow

I'd much rather have Manny Lawson then Merriman

Keep what we got, if Man Law is a team player he will wait his turn

If he is good they will sign him before it is too late.

I'd rather keep Lawson. However, if Lawson did leave via free agency, I'd take Merriman in a heartbeat.

lawson has been pretty good thus far.
