What Jets fans say about him

Quote:
Faneca has always been a run blocker, not a pass blocker. He gave up 6.5 sacks last year, which is pretty terrible as a LG. He's still a decent run blocker, but his run blocking isn't good enough anymore to make up for his pass blocking deficiencies. He was not deserving at all of a pro bowl berth last year. There are multiple instances I can remember where Sanchez was pressured, hit, or sacked because Faneca is just not good as a pass blocker.

A lot of people in this thread are surprised, but he actually was pretty much awful last year. The guy the Jets drafted in the second round is already an upgrade over how poorly Faneca played last year.

Cool it, tiger. He is not a cap casualty. He is declining. Happens to us all.
Correct me if I'm wrong but if there is no cap this year than how can you be a cap casualty?

Also I tend to believe the Jets released him because of his declining skills rather than the money issue. You have to remember the Jets have been loading up on talent to make their SB run right now so it would be unusual to release their Faneca if his skills were up to par.

I think you should look a little bit more into his contract before you go off. He's guaranteed 5 mil of that 7.5 this year. So he's getting 5 mil to sit on his butt all year if he wants. That should tell you where his skills are at now.

Am i mistaken on this, but i though Grimm was fired last season???

You are mistaken. Grimm is still assistant HC/O-Line coach.
i would be cool with that it gives iupati a year to learn and work on that holding and then come in and rip it up the next year, plus some quality help for rachel

If I was Baalke, I'd be on the phone with Alan right now, giving him a fat 2 year contract heavy on the 1st year, since it's uncapped. And have him start at RG, and then we would we literally have no weaknesses on the O-line and only one weakness left on the entire offense.

Does tom rathman get a better fb to work with?
We have a pretty decent Oline now. Very strong and talented, but lacking in experience. I wouldn't mind Faneca, but I don't think it's going to happen. We spent a high second round pick on Rachel. He's had some growing pains, but hopefully this year he starts to shine.

Norris isn't a chump, it's just we went to that stupid spread so much, Norris snaps were seriously cut down. And now with Iupati and Davis, hopefully we will get back to a run based offense pounding the rock, and Norris can get back to doing what he does paving the way for 21.

Norris played HORRIBLY last season. I mean HORRIBLE. You can use what ever excuse you want, but when ever Gore ran behind him, more often then not that's were Gore remained, behind Noris, cause Noris got NO push at all.
Jets averaged 172 ypg rushing last year.......
