the jets released him because although he went to the pro bowl, got owned in run situations. read the reports. the jets were really unhappy with this performance

Well that's probably not true, but sometimes these types of things work out, especially when the expectation is that of filling in a hole until someone else develops rather than franchise savior/championship.
