One of the knocks about Rachel was that he did not have enough experience. If we could sign Faneca relatively cheap, we could put him in and he could properly groom Rachel to start next season.
Dude is not that old and he can still ball.

Daniel Jeremiah said on Twitter earlier today about Faneca's release:
"Faneca's rep has been much better than his play the last few years"

I would love Faneca but I think the 9ers have the OL set. Baas signed his tenure and Rachal played much better toward the end of last season. Not to mention Sing is high on him.
After drafting 2 first round OL one of which is a LG same position as Faneca I doubt we spend the $ to bring him in.
Dream scenerio is we sign him to a 2 year deal, then deal Baas to whatever team lost out on him for a decent CB. I know OG for CB won't happen unless some team was desperate.

Yeah what I'm talking about. Chilo would be just depth, learning & coming off the bench...

Not when the player is about to make $7.5 million for a year and a team that needed to cut some salary. This guy is a legitimate pro-bowler every year; he's made D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Mangold into much better players and could do the same here with our young guys!
Our 'Veteran' presence is Heitman? I know Brown is coaching up the guys now and he's a great role model, but when you have a guy like Faneca he demands respect from the roster. He's got WAY more in the tank than Allen did when we signed him a couple of years ago.

unfortunately it won't happen because we're not gonna spend $10 million over 2 years (probably what it would take) to get him here when that $10 million can go towards Davis, Goldson, and P-52's extensions.

DEFINITELY agree we should sign Faneca ASAP....He is a huge upgrade over Rachal or Baas. Our line needed a total remake anyway. And just because we got that much better in adding Davis/Iupati doesn't mean we should stop there.
Faneca is still a baller and a big reason the Jets had their way with their opponents run D.
Also, I heard his wife is from the bay area. My aunt knows family of his wife (maybe gf) so who knows maybe the bay is where they'd like to be.
We get Faneca, and all these young guys will be even better for it. The steelers Oline hasn't been the same since he left.
Lets go Baalke!!!

The Pro Bowl means nothing anymore. Remember, Vince Young was a Pro Bowl QB his rookie season. (I'll never get over that)
