Gaither could be available for less than first round pick

I don't understand why the 49ers don't jump on the chance to get a young and proven LT, I'm sure we can get Gaither for our 2nd, sign him to a contract extension that we would give any top unproven rookie LT, makes no sense. From MM's article today, he states that in order for the Niners to get one of the top three LTs that the Niners need to trade up, for what I ask. Why do that when Gaither is right there for us to sign and work out a deal with the Ravens.

If acquired, you would move Gaither to RT hahaha, when he's played and dominated at LT, too many people on here think too highly of Staley on the blind side

its going to be a draft day trade becuase they will only pull the trigger if someone they want falls to our pick

I agree from both teams perspective. The 9ers would rather re-sign there own free agents if someone like Williams fell to #13, then trade for Gaither.

There's a strong reason this guy is being dealt away, and the "we want to move Oher to the left side" business is a bit contrived. -In reality this guy has pissed off a lot of teammates/coaches in the locker room due to his lack of dedication/focus, and not showing up on time for team-related practices/meetings.

Taking a gamble/putting this guy next to Rachel (an already 'lazy' player) would be a liability (not to mention Gaither's 'softness' issues), totally not worth a high draft pick! Gaither has the tools, but he has no heart/care to play in the NFL.
The only teams really eyeballing this guy right now are the Lions and Redskins, so that really says a lot. Most teams will probably test the draft, and if they come up short after the 2nd round they'll be dealing away a packaged 3rd or 4th round pick (with a first or second in 2011).

"Gaither missed the first week of the Ravens’ voluntary offseason workouts last week..."
That usually means you have the choice yeah? Who cares... If there are any major issues Sgt. Singletary will lay down the law

Maybe he missed because he knows he's going to be traded.

That couldn't make any less sense, unless he's trying to lower his trade value so that they don't trade him. But him getting traded would mean a fat contract extension, so that wouldn't make any sense...

You're sure the Ravens will trade one of their starting tackles, one that YOU seem to think is an excellent player, for the 49th pick in the draft? How does that make any sense? Heard someone say it on a message board?

Because they have a better player at the position and want to get something for him rather than pay the man what he's worth.
The Skins just got a borderline HoF qb from a division rival for not much more than a 2nd.

Has he signed his tender? Players not under contract cannot attend workouts without signing a waiver (ala Baas).
We also had several players skip workouts, but I wouldn't question any of their commitments at this point.

Gathier is arguably better than Oher at LT. Anyways every team is always trying to improve their OL, if it was so easy to acquire someone that is so good don't you think that someone would have done it already? The answer is either he's not as good as you say or he's not going to be so easy to acquire via trade as you say...
