Everything must be absolute fact before we can talk about it!!

of course he'll say that, we're division rivals... but money talks.

Honestly what the hell are they doing? Are they even trying to win next year? They're letting Rolle go, Dansby, Berry's gone, they want to trade Boldin, Warner's gone, etc. They're freaking nuts. If we don't win the division next year we're pretty much an epic failure.

They need to reformulate at both sides. I wouldn't be surprised to see them shift back to a pure 4-3 D, and spend the bucks on landing Peppers or something.

They can replace Dansby in the 4-3 in the draft. And remember, they did draft Rashad Johnson in the 3rd round last year.

Yeah but we know how painful it can be to wait for a 1st year safety taking over that starting spot. As good as Goldson was this year he didn't really pick up steam until the 2nd half of the year, and he blew coverages and missed tackles in games like GB. I don't think they can get a guy as good as Dansby in the draft, NYG plays a 4-3 and they couldn't just put a MLB in there when Pierce went out and make it work. The guy still needs to have talent, their pick isn't going to be very high. They won't get a guy like McClain so they're going to be sifting through the 2nd and 3rd tier talents. Plus they need to improve their OLine because Leinart doesn't get the ball out as fast as Warner did. You can't just put a rookie 2nd or 3rd round MLB in there and expect him to play like a pro bowler. They're notoriously cheap, I don't see them spending money on Julius Peppers. To be honest I think they're f**ked. It makes me kind of happy

No but you can get good production and play out of that guy. Just ask James Lauriniatis, Demeco Ryans, Curtis Lofton, Paul Posluszny, David Harris or Lofa Tatupu. And Tatupu did go the the PB as a rookie.

This year in the 2nd they could land Spikes or Washington who could follow in those footsteps and dealing Boldin could net a high 2nd rounder (Miami and Tampa come to mind as possible landing spots).

Letting Dansby and Rolle walk and dealing Boldin allows them to possibly get Dockett signed longterm. Recently they gave good deals to Fitz, Wilson and Warner and have signed Edge to a nice sized deal as well so I wouldn't rule out the Cards as a team who might spend on a big name FA if need be.

They also have the ability to address the OL early on with either their 1st or 2nd especially if they can net a 2nd for Q.

this.

also, this reminds me of a tim "show me the money" mcdonald moment. i would love to have rolle. veteran leadership at that position is key-unless your name is mark roman.

Cardinals are in trouble if their owners don't want to spend money (that's the way it seems).

Their starting NT is a FA, Dansby will be a FA, their starting NT is an unrestricted free agent, their starting OLB is an unrestricted free agent.

If they cut Rolle that leaves just their starting CB McFadden who was a liability this year and who is due $5 million next year--they don't want to pay Rolle's roster bonus of $4 million, so I can't see them wanting to keep McFadden around at that price especially if he ends up losing his starting job.

On the offensive side of the ball both the starting and backup center are restricted free agents. The RG and LT are RFAs as well. You've got Breaston and Urban who are both RFAs and the starting FB is RFA. Boldin is due $3 million in 2010 but he's not happy there and has wanted out of Dodge for years--expect him to be traded.

That's half the starting lineup on both offense and defense. Now if they switch back to a 4-3 that won't matter so much on the defensive side, but the offensive weapons are not going to be there.

It really feels like the Cardinals ownership is going to take advantage of no league minimum by slashing costs everywhere to try to maximize their profits. It doesn't even seem like they're wanting to try to field a winning team. Maybe they're shooting for the #1 pick next year to get Locker?

Sorry but we need a strong safety

We can sign Rolle and move Goldson to strong safety.

Problem solved.

or we could just cut mark roman

That sounds good to me.

Well of course not, adjustments are made in OTA's and Training Camp. Besides there's still the deciding factor on Michael Lewis.

Well until we read or hear anything, enjoy the circle jerk of speculation.

Isn't this a message board where speculation is allowed??

Goldson is just as good if not better than Rolle at FS. Last year was Goldsons first year starting, he will get better. I don't want Rolle.
