They can't. NFL rules state that a team can only franchise a player two times. Dansby has already been franchised twice so he's hitting the open market. I'd love to have him on the Niners but don't know how much he'll want.
i cant find anything on this 2 yr only tag rule...according to this article, the cardinals can tag him again.

Like other teams, the Cardinals could use franchise and transition tags to restrict players. In capped years, teams could use just one of those designations.

Dansby acknowledged there isn't much he could do if the Cardinals decide to tag him again.

"They have my rights," he said. "I'm just going to play it out and do what I do best, which is play this game."

Hmm. I could swear I read that somewhere, but all the articles I've read tend to blur together. I'll have to dig around some more to see that. I just read through the relevant sections in the CBA and it's not in there, so I don't know where I got that from.

Very, very nice. If the Seahawks don't get Brandon Marshall we've got the division won before the season even starts lol

You can franchise them however many times you want but they have to get a significant raise from the last tag.
Cards would be idiots to lose Dansby and Rolle. Oh wait nevermind.
I hear Dansby might be leaning towards NYG though.

Yeah I think that's his best fit. They let Antonio Pierce go and Dansby's in his prime. They need a MLB pretty badly.

Must be something with their ownership, people seem to consistently want to leave. Last year too. I'm really glad the 49ers are locking up their players and rewarding them for good play.
Cardinals will not place franchise tag on Karlos Dansby, according to team source

Dansby isn't going to simply come in, shake hands with Tony Sparano, and ask for the nearest contract and pen. He is clearly eager to work the system to get the most (meaning cash) out of whatever team is bidding on him ... and now that includes the Arizona Cardinals.

A league source texted me moments ago saying the Cardinals today reached out to the Dansby camp to "talk about keeping him." Translation: The Cardinals are offering Dansby a contract, too.
