My Dream Offseason:

1. We extend Willis and Vernon Davis.

2. We draft Eric Berry and CJ Spiller with our 2 first rounders.

3. We sign a legit RT in Free Agency.

4. Alex Smith and Crabtree have a very productive offseason developing chemistry together.
Free Agency:
Sign Logan Mankins to a 5yr/$25 million deal

Sign Shawne Merriman to a 6yr/$12 million (gives us a discount 'cause of the whole Tila Tequila incedent....LoL)

Trade Micheal Lewis and Mark Roman for Troy Polamalu (Sing sits down with Mike Tomlin and gives him an inspirational speech on how M. Lewis & M. Roman are about to have DPOY type of seasons for the next 7 years. never really happens )

Re-sign Micheal Spurlock And trade him to Cleveland along with a 2012 5th Rd. pick for Joshua Cribbs.

Draft:
1a: Ndamukong Suh, DL Nebraska. (drops 'cause Roger Goodell pronounced his name wrong a day before the draft so big Suh Slaps him across the face. )

1b: Anthony Davis, RT Rutgers. Don't ask me how he drops this low, it just happens.

2a: Joe Haden, CB Florida. Trade with St. Louis for a 2022 1st rd. pick and 2011 6th rd. pick. (once again don't ask me how he drops just know that it happened.)

2b: Brandon Spikes, ILB Florida. Trade with Oakland, Brandon Jones(write down on a piece of paper that he runs a 4.14 forty and hand it to Al Davis) Sits for a year and takes over for his cousin next year.

2c: Mike Iupati, RG Idaho. (Drops 'cause he has a REALLY REALLY bad gas problem and we are the only team that can put up with it.)

2d:Perrish Cox, CB/KR Oklahoma State. Oakland finds someway of trading with the eagles for their 2nd rd. pick, we turn around and trade them Adam Snyder for the pick. We tell Al Davis, Adam is what Robert Gallery should have been.

3: Jerry Hughes, OLB TCU. (drops 'cause he went to TCU. So unfair.)

4: Nate Allen, S South Florida. Steps in for Troy whenever he gets hurt.

5: Dexter McCluster, Ath Ole Miss. We get our Darren Sproles/Leon Washington.

6: Mike Johnson, G Alabama. It just happens. Don't know how.

7: Damien Williams, WR USC. Turns out he was the main culprit in the Joe McKnight scandal so he drops.

Signed UDFA:
Colt Mccoy, QB Texas. Another Project QB
Reggie Carter, ILB UCLA. Depth at ILB
Alterruan Verner, CB. Drops out of the draft and we get another steal.

Surprise Cut of Training Camp:
Brian Price, who was selected 8th overall by the Raiders is cut by Al Davis 'cause he's not fast enough. Once again the football gods bless us and we sign him.

Side Note: Chilo Rachel gets moved to Center and becomes an All-Pro. Eric Heitman becomes a back-up.

And the most important transaction of the off-season we sign Patrick Willis to a 30 yr. contract extension in exchange for the whole franchise and 10 mil a year.

This is my DREAM Off-season and it should be everyone elses too.

I'm a UCLA Bruin...So I LOVE this scenario lol

Yorks sell the team to Larry Ellison, multi billionaire CEO of Oracle.

Ellison promises to return the franchise to its glory days, thanks all current 49er employees for their services, and terminates them immediately.

Puts in place advisory team consisting of Steve Young, Brent Jones, Ronnie Lott, Dwight Clark, and others to help advise on the hiring of a new GM.

Ron Wolf is the probable hire. Many years of NFL success, great drafting record, huge book of contacts. He interviews HC candidates and selects Brian Shottenheimer, currently Jets OC, who has just declined an interview with Buffalo but cannot resist the opportunity to coach the new 49ers.

Alex Smith is cut in September after failing to beat out Nate Davis for the starting QB job, and catches on as a backup with Cleveland. New O line coach Mike Solari will start two rookies: Anthony Davis and Mike Iutapi. Greg Manusky is retained as DC. Shottenheimer has help, but calls his own plays.

The empty slogans are removed from billboards all over the Peninsula. The team takes a quantum leap forward, goes 10-6 and takes the NFCW going away.

The nightmare is over.

Okay, that's my dream

Good, but I was hoping he would buy the Warriors. Maybe both? And add signing R. Bush for ST and runs outside, which would now be allowed.

+1

Also trade for McNabb, develop N Davis for two more years to see what he has and sort out the OL in the draft.
Anybody but Alex Smith would be starting at the QB position
Only dream scenario would be Yorks selling the team. Realistic offseason would be the morons running the organization right now finally getting a clue.
-Bring in somebody to at least serve as a consultant/quality control person on offense. Ideally somebody with some history playing in Red and Gold.

-Free agency does not have to be chaos. Retain our starting FA's (Franklin, Baas, Brooks), and a couple others. Sign Mankins or Merriman, ONE OR THE OTHER, not both. Both would be nice, but I would be happy with 1 big name this offseason.

-Shore up the O-Line. OT is a must. OG wouldn't hurt. Depending on what they think they have in Wallace, C might not hurt either.

-Obtain a blocking TE, either through FA or the draft. This doesn't have to be a big name, or big $$$$.

-Acquire a 3rd down RB/Change of Pace/KR/PR guy. It could be a CB/KR/PR, WR/KR/PR, RB/KR/PR, or a couple of the above. One guy early in the draft and a gamble on a burner later in the draft would be nice to see.

-Depth in the secondary. A SS would be nice, as would some young blood at corner. A mid to late round pick on a OLB would suffice as well.

-I am apparently one of the few on this website not concerned about our QB position. The coaching staff/front office seems content going in to 2010 with Alex Smith under center and Nate Davis under "study". Not only are there no good FA QB's out there, and none available in the draft, but all of these rumors about trading for Donovan or anybody else are bogus. There will be minimal movement on the QB front this offseason, for all 32 teams.

I seriously doubt that any rookie QB starts for any team this year. Maybe Clausen, but I think that he will have a terrible season if that happens.

Overall, I want to see more variety on offense, and more aggressiveness on defense. Meaning, more screens (RB/TE/WR), more vertical passing, more offtackle/veer running, and more spread packages. On defense, more blitzing (ILB/CB/S's), and depending on what happens at OLB, more cover 2 on long downs.

2010 is looking pretty good to me

Seeing as how the CBA is going to render this FA period null, there will be no good players available, so let's squash that. The draft and/ or trades will be the only road for improvement so here's mine:

Draft an OT and Iupati at G in round one, fix the line.
Get a pass rusher or CB who can return kicks in rnd 2, best value.
Trade a 3rd, 5th and conditional pick to Browns for Josh Cribbs. We never hit on those picks anyway.
Take BPA for rest of draft.
Now we have our line, 2 KR/PR, one being the best in the business, or another pass rusher or both. All of our biggest issues are solved and Alex Smith has every advantage to succeed. Give him an offseason with this talent, if we have a losing record by the mid point, give Nate a shot. That will tell us what to do the following offseason.

draft a OT and a good speedy CB in the first round, then a speedy WR in the second or third round and then good solid players with potential in all remaining rounds...

with that we go to playoffs and win big next season....

10-6 NFC west champs

go niners

I agree: we should focus on OL and our secondary (Berry?) with our early selections, but I wouldn't mind more depth at DE.

I like the versatility Bush would provide and think he could fill in other areas besides KR/PR, but I am not sure what $ he'll demand.
my dream offseason would be :

bring back TO think of crabs TO morgan davis and gore

trade a first round pick to phili for mcnabb

trade alex smith to the browns for cribbs and a 3rd round pick

and also pu logan mankins in free agency

draft offensive line players a fast safety

I was thinkin that same thing after watchin the Chargers choke AGAIN .

Norv signed an extension . . .
Sign Logan Mankins
Draft a blue chip RT with one of our 1st round picks
Draft a pass rushing OLB with the other 1st rounder
Sign a veteran WR that can make plays to make our offense more explosive
Draft a CB with our 2nd rounder
Draft a SS with our 3rd rounder

this would improve the team IMO
Sing an established guard and tackle
draft corner with first pick and inside LB
second round: shifty quick super fast receiver or back for return purposes
3rd round: Defensive tackle

I really think we are a couple of players away from fielding a complete team, if we dont win then we change QBs because as i see it, we have a complete team our only weak area is OL, i hope we go after veterans to fix our line cause we dont have the time to be burning seasons out of our established players like Justin smith, Willis, Aubrayo,Gore, Vernon etc..
