Your Dream Offseason

All of our problems begin with the owners. They are as tight with their money as a bull's ass during fly season. This is why they hired Erickson. Then they hired NOlan as the new HC and GM. He was unproven in either position, but they did it because he was cheap. Instead of hiring the best personnel man money could buy, Nolan hired McC, whose resume was that he was a scout with the Seahawks. Again, cheap.

Then when Nolan was fired, instead of hiring an experienced, successfull HC, they promoted Singletary (no previous HC experience, not even been a DC before) because he was cheap.

They have $50M sitting on the sidelines, about $20M of which should be invested in FA that are helping the team win, more guys like Justin Smith.

So our team is run by average guys who are cheap. This is why our dear team is average and will remain average until hell freezes over so long as the cheap Yorks run this team.

Dream Offseason? You should know by now what would be my dream offseason.
Norv Turner gets fired in SD this week and becomes our new OC . . . . then a starting RT and return-man/play-maker in the draft.

Niners sign Julius Peppers
Niners then draft a great OT with the other 1st round pick..
Niners then draft a good OT with 2nd round pick
We trade our 3rd round pick for Cribbs..

We get:
Brees
Peyton
Peppers
Cribbs
an O line

Why do I think mine is more realistic?

because it would take brains for it to be otherwise.

Forgot to add Warner retiring. The main thing for me is that we get a QB though. The other stuff is secondary. McNabb with VD Crabs and Gore would be a lethal force

McNabb is a non clutch QB that gets injured very easily, not to mention he is getting up there in age. Maybe 10 years ago, not now, and for sure not for a first rounder.

Agree with only one exception with second pick we get Spiller. Everybody has me hyped on him now. Bas*ards.

Draft: BPA in the 1st round, if a highly rated tackle falls to us take him but do not reach for a tackle. i would love to see us pick up CJ Spiller, or if he's taken we can take someone else and hopefully have a shot at Jahvid Best in the 2nd, with a spiller/best type of player we get speed on offense, an explosive playmaker at RB and as a receiver and we also get a gamebreaking return man. Joe Haden would be another i would consider since clements' contract escalates next year and we can cut him without losing money. Brian Price DT from UCLA would be another i would consider with our 2nd 1st rounder.

then we need a speedy WR and we can probably get Jordan Shipley who is fast and is also a very good return man in the 2nd or maybe even 3rd round. then we draft depth on the O-line, DB's, DT and a late round QB prospect to develop because i think our QB stable will be Smith as the incumbent starter with Nate Davis as #2 and the rookie at #3.

49ers in general: get the stadium situation settled, seriously evaluate your position coaches, guys like sullivan and Foerester. i think Sullivan is just riding on his past with arizona's receivers and Foerester is just a joke. i think we can do better in both of these places. Jimmy Raye staying is a good thing, with a whole offseason and the knowledge that we can throw the ball im sure they will come up with plays to suit our players rather than singletary's hard on for a "punch em in the mouth" offense.

if this isnt the most reasonable s#!7 i've heard!!!
Merriman=instant upgrad, he doesnt wanna play for choking ass SD anymore and he would be back with Manusky!...dare i say contract year!...
A veteran free agent Olineman and draft bpa at OL would be great with our first pick, then i think we still have a shot at either Berry or Mays...maybe even Spiller or Dez Bryant...hey BPA imho trumps need...(being that we have 2 first rounders at that!!!) then we could use the rest of the draft to fill back up positions.
Not to be a grinch...but off-season dreams have to be tempered by a dose of reality...in that it's likely with no collective bargaining agreement signed, what would've potentially been a fairly lucrative UFA market would shrink considerably. In fact, there are 212 players who will be RFA's vice UFA's w/o a new agreement. RFA's are a whole different ballgame...and with a substantially higher number of them, I'd expect a lot less player movement. Having said that, it's likely they'll re-sign Baas for a short-term contract, unless they're committed to drafting his replacement (Iupati). They might still make that deal, to buy time for Iupati to learn the offense. Brooks would also be an RFA...and we know he'll be re-signed. So, unless there's a new CBA signed, this off-season will be mostly about The Draft...

I want to know what your dream offseason would be for free agency, the draft, and the Niners in general. I'll start it off:

Free Agency: Niners acquire Josh Cribbs from the Browns for a 3rd round pick (or less)
Draft: Niners address the offensive line early and often to give the team the best chance to win in the future. Williams or Bulaga at RT and maybe Iupati or M. Johnson at OG.
Niners in general: The Niners finalize plans to commence building the new stadium in Santa Clara or the City. Just get on with it already!

Your turn..........

1. Owner / CEO : none (it's starting in 2011 : get a new OC and maybe another head coach if this one fails again)
2. Management : get the best out of the draft that means you select somebody that will have an impact (eg staley willis, forget the potential maybes like balmer) + be aggressive in the FA market (or the draft if the latter is weak)
3. Coaches : let's give Nate a chance to compete like Smith get one after the DownHill + let's have a good TC with no injuries (and forget about that nutcracker !)
4. Players : play as hard as in 2009 cos you did a good job in that part (only problem is some of you aren't good enough ....) but smarter (too many stupid penalties) and more focused (PM to #15 and #85 : stop those drops !)
5. Other : lets' get a new stadium ASAP

Maybe more coming ...

I see you got the responses based on Crack Pipes. You should have added that
word, REALISTIC[b] in front of Dream Offseason.

My dream offseason would be the following:

1. Jimmy Raye has a burst of insight and develops an aggressive, balanced, creative offensive scheme that is tailor made for our players.

2. A. Smith develops a harmonious system of timing patterns with his wide receivers.

3. All 7 of our draft picks become starters this year.

4. We are able to get our Oline stable and highly productive.

5. Balmer, T. Brown, Goldson, R. Smith, Brooks all have super years.

6. Singletary develops an awareness of how to handle time issues during the game.

7. Whoever it is that communicates plays gets supercharged.

8. That we have a 10 plus winning season.
