Oct 10, 2010 at 8:45 PM--

The last time the San Francisco 49ers went 0-5 was 1979. Tonight, in a game that almost saw quarterback Alex Smith benched, the 49ers accomplished the same thing.

This team knows how to lose in dramatics fashion in front of the home crowd. San Francisco lost 27-24 to the Eagles in a thriller of a game.

Next week, the team will host the Oakland Raiders at Candlestick Park.

The San Francisco 49ers' revenge tour didn't start off as planned. The Arizona Cardinals went into Levi's Stadium and knocked off the defending NFC champions by a score of 24-20. Injury-stricken 49ers fall in Week 3 power rankings after win vs. Jets

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers got their first win of the season on Sunday, beating the New York Jets 31-13, but it was at a great cost. The team lost two defensive linemen, Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas, for the remainder of the season due to torn ACLs. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle), and running backs Raheem Mostert (knee) and Tevin Coleman (knee) could miss time due to injuries. San Francisco was already without cornerback Richard Sherman (calf) and wide receiver Deebo Samuel (foot). It's been a rough start for the defending NFC champions, who are bringing in Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah to help offset at least some of the defensive losses. While the 49ers won their Week 2 matchup, the increase in significant injuries appears to be a factor in their drop within power

Head coach Kyle Shanahan is optimistic that the team will get wide receiver Deebo Samuel back next week — at least for practices. The coaching staff will use those practices to determine if the second-year receiver is healthy enough to play on October 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Samuel, in June, suffered a Jones fracture in his left foot and has been working relentlessly to return to the football field. He is with the team at The Greenbrier in West Virginia. "I'm optimistic he'll be back next week," Shanahan told reporters on Friday. "He had a real good week. Last week, hitting the rehab hard with all those guys, and just being able to watch him work out here on the side,
