No pads for 49ers, NFL players until 20th day of training camp under new proposal

The NFL is proposing a new ramp-up schedule for training camps, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The new timeline means coaches may not be able to have their players suit up in pads until 20 days after reporting. The proposal is in response to the NFL Players Association's (NFLPA's) demands for the NFL to take recommendations on how to address the coronavirus pandemic more seriously. The league has already conceded and moved forward with daily testing for the first two weeks, and even offered to eliminate the entire preseason. Raheem Mostert hopes to one day land on NFL Top 100 Players list

Raheem Mostert has some big aspirations. The biggest football-related one might be the San Francisco 49ers running back being motivated by Canton. He hopes to have a good enough career to one day find himself in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. If last season's Green Bay Packers defense were the voters, Mostert might be a shoo-in. The former undrafted player rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries against the Packers defense in the NFC Championship Game, helping to punch the 49ers' ticket to Super Bowl LIV. Proximity to Levi's Stadium gives 49ers an advantage while holding training camp during a pandemic

When San Francisco 49ers players are finally able to enter the team's facilities, things will be a lot different compared to when they left. Aside from being required to wear face masks — apart from when they are alone in a room — they'll notice a lot of things missing. Gone are all of the seats and tables in the team's cafeteria. Players can no longer dine there. They will need to grab their pre-packaged food and go, eating it outside or in the offices. Most of the seating in the main auditorium where full-team meetings are typically held will now have caution tape draped over them, preventing players — or anyone — from sitting too close to another person.
