It seemed like things were getting heated between wide receiver DK Metcalf and safety Jimmie Ward during the San Francisco 49ers' 37-27 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, but the public may never know exactly why.
Ward seemed to have plenty to say to Metcalf, who had a career day for the Seahawks with 12 catches for 161 yards and two touchdowns. At one point, Metcalf seemed to take particular exception to a hit Ward put on Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.
Jimmie Ward has been barking at DK all game, now Metcalf had to be held back by a few teammates after a questionable hit on Russ by Ward.

So what was being said between Metcalf and Ward? Metcalf was asked about that subject after the game but wasn't about to dive into any details.
"I don't know if I can disclose that information," Metcalf said with a smile. "Just two competitive guys talking smack to each other."
Metcalf went on to say he doesn't remember whether it was he or Ward who talked smack first, just that it was part of a fiery environment in an important game between two NFC West rivals.
"I don't know who started it," Metcalf said. "I do not remember. But the game had been chippy all day. Just two competitive teams going at it."
Nothing Metcalf may have said could have spoken any louder than his performance on the field. Metcalf's performance against the 49ers put him at 36 catches for 680 yards and seven touchdowns on the season as he continues to establish himself as a formidable weapon the 49ers and the rest of the league will have to deal with for years to come.
"What a fantastic game he played," Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said of Metcalf. "Just so tough and so physical. Just a dominant player out there today."
