The San Francisco 49ers announced the re-signing of RB
Kendall Gaskins to two-year deal on Monday.
Gaskins was waived by the team on May 6 in order to make room for
12 undrafted free agent signings. After spending 2014 on the 49ers practice squad, Gaskins appeared in nine games in 2015 and had 38 yards rushing in 16 attempts after being promoted to the active roster on October 31.
The team had an open roster spot after RB
Jarryd Hayne abruptly
retired to pursue playing in the 2016 Summer Olympics. Other running backs on the 49ers roster include
Carlos Hyde,
Shaun Draughn,
DuJuan Harris, second-year player
Mike Davis, and rookie
Kelvin Taylor.
Gaskins played college football at Richmond and went undrafted in 2013. He has spent time on the roster or practice squad of the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, and New York Giants.

49ers see impending mega-deal for Brock Purdy as a 'good problem'
The San Francisco 49ers are actively working to sign wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to a contract extension, aiming to maintain their talented young core of players. The team has reached agreements with star players during each of the last four offseasons, securing George Kittle in 2020, Fred Warner in 2021, Deebo Samuel in 2022, and Nick Bosa in 2023.
Another key contributor poised for a new deal next offseason is quarterback Brock Purdy. Over the last couple of years, the 49ers have been in the unique position of not having to pay much money (relatively) to stock their quarterback room while reaping the benefits of superb play from their starting signal-caller.
