The San Francisco 49ers 2016 NFL Draft selections

Apr 30, 2016 at 3:53 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers addressed numerous positions in the 2016 NFL Draft. Six of their 11 selections were offensive players. On offense, they selected three offensive lineman, including two tackles, sending a strong statement to former 49ers OT Anthony Davis.

They also selected a wide receiver, a running back, and a quarterback. However, it wasn't any of the quarterbacks that were expected. Colin Kaepernick remains on the team and talks between the 49ers and the Broncos are reportedly dead now that Denver has rookie QB Paxton Lynch on their roster.

On defense, the 49ers addressed the defensive line by drafting two ends. They also selected three cornerbacks.

Updated list of 49ers draft picks in 2024 after NFL penalty

By David Bonilla

The NFL has penalized the San Francisco 49ers for payroll accounting errors that occurred at the end of the 2022 league year. This has led to the team forfeiting their fifth-round draft pick in 2025 and a reduction in their fourth-round pick in the upcoming draft. San Francisco's fourth-round selection, initially No. 131 overall, now shifts down four spots to the end of the round at No. 135, following the compensatory picks from that round. Despite this setback, the 49ers still possess 10 selections in the 2024 NFL Draft but will be short a pick next year. The team's selections in the upcoming draft are as follows: Round 1, Pick 31 Overall Round

49ers to host Marshawn Kneeland and Jamal Hill on pre-draft visits

By David Bonilla
Mar 13

The San Francisco 49ers' evaluation of draft prospects is underway. As part of their assessment, the team will welcome two players for visits: former Western Michigan edge rusher Marshawn Kneeland and former Oregon safety Jamal Hill. San Francisco recently agreed to terms on two-year deals with defensive ends Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos, bolstering its pass rush. However, after losing Clelin Ferrell in free agency and facing the likelihood of Chase Young playing elsewhere in 2024, the team appears keen on adding more explosiveness along the edges through the draft. Kneeland registered 57 tackles, including 7.5 for a loss, 4.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 10 game appearances with Western Michigan as a senior in 2023, per

Mock Draft 4.0: 49ers address interior D-line early

By Wayne P. Brown
Mar 16

Things will change as the rest of free agency plays out. However, this mock draft tries to address the San Francisco 49ers' key needs and doesn't rely heavily on the moves that have already been made this week—just yet. This mock draft was created without heavily factoring in the trade for defensive tackle Maliek Collins, so it still includes 11 selections. Another mock draft reflecting the most recent roster changes is coming soon. Round 1, Pick 31 DT Byron Murphy II, Texas Although the 49ers addressed the defensive tackle position in free agency, Byron Murphy II may be the best player at the 31. Murphy II's quick burst and get-off makes him one of the most dangerous defensive tackles in the draft. He will impact the
