With the 2019 regular season halfway over, the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers remain as the NFL's only undefeated teams in Week 9. And despite the Niners' success this season, the folks over at NFL.com don't seem to totally buy the ideal head coach Kyle Shanahan's squad will take home its sixth Lombardi Trophy this February in Super Bowl LIV.

NFL.com just put together a predictions panel trying to accurately guess who winds up winning this year's championship. The 8-0 49ers received just three votes:

  • Tom Blair predicts the Niners over the Kansas City Chiefs
  • Gregg Rosenthal predicts the Niners over the Chiefs
  • Steve Smith Sr. predicts the Niners over the New England Patriots

New England received the most out of any team in the discussion panel, eight, while the New Orleans Saints received six for second place. The Chiefs and 49ers were tied with three votes apiece.

Interestingly enough, the Oakland Raiders received two votes from David Carr and Akbar Gbajabiamila, while the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks received one vote apiece.

San Francisco received 19 votes to win the NFC West, while Seattle had seven. EDGE Nick Bosa also received the most votes (23) for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

One former San Francisco 49ers player is making his opinion of Super Bowl 58 very clear. He believes his former team was dealt a bad hand in the matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs in Las Vegas two months ago. Former 49ers safety Donte Whitner, appearing this week on the "Up & Adam" show with Kay Adams, was vocal regarding the matchup and how certain circumstances seemed to favor the Chiefs. "And when we think about the Super Bowl as well, I think that the 49ers played against the refs as well, guys," Whitner told Adams. "I think that when we look at that film and you see bear hugs on those defensive ends, right? And you really see it in blatant moments in the game." Adams couldn't help but laugh at Whitner's comments, and the former player

Latest NFL.com mock draft suggests 49ers upgrade right tackle spot

By David Bonilla

NFL Media's Adam Rank has thrown his hat into the mock draft ring. However, there's a slight twist. Rather than projecting what NFL teams will do in Round 1, he's sharing what he believes they should do in Round 1. For the San Francisco 49ers at No. 31 overall, Rank suggests general manager John Lynch should focus on upgrading the offensive line. Specifically, he recommends finding a replacement for Colton McKivitz at right tackle. Rank proposes that the 49ers use their first-round pick on former Oklahoma tackle Tyler Guyton. "Last season, Colton McKivitz gave up nine sacks -- tied for fourth-most in the NFL, per PFF," Rank
