FTW ranks Baalke-Kelly GM-coach combo at No. 25 in the NFL
Steven Ruiz of
For the Win ranked all of the general manager and head coach combinations in the NFL. Now, these days, when the San Francisco 49ers are involved in any online ranking, you can just scroll to the bottom of the article to read what they had to say about the team. That didn't happen this time, which may be a shock to fans that want nothing more than to see general manager Trent Baalke gone.
You didn't need to scroll too far up from the bottom to find the 49ers, though. The combination of Baalke and head coach Chip Kelly has the team listed at number 25 in the ranking.
"Last season, Chip Kelly the GM sabotaged Chip Kelly the coach," wrote Ruiz. "Now it's Baalke's turn to do so. The 49ers' roster is devoid of talent, and it's looking more and more like the success this franchise enjoyed at the start of the decade had more to do with Jim Harbaugh and Scot McCloughan than it did Baalke."
Fans likely agree with that assessment. They have been calling for the firing of Baalke for a while now. After all, he has been the man in charge of a roster that has diminished greatly since the 49ers' Super Bowl appearance of the 2012 season. And yes, it was a roster primarily built by McCloughan that went to the Super Bowl. While reports have stated that Kelly's job is likely safe, Baalke may very well be on the hot seat.
It won't be long until fans find out Baalke's fate. The team has only four games left in what has been an embarrassing 1-11 season.

Updated list of 49ers draft picks in 2024 after NFL penalty
The NFL has penalized the San Francisco 49ers for payroll accounting errors that occurred at the end of the 2022 league year. This has led to the team forfeiting their fifth-round draft pick in 2025 and a reduction in their fourth-round pick in the upcoming draft.
San Francisco's fourth-round selection, initially No. 131 overall, now shifts down four spots to the end of the round at No. 135, following the compensatory picks from that round.
Despite this setback, the 49ers still possess 10 selections in the 2024 NFL Draft but will be short a pick next year. The team's selections in the upcoming draft are as follows:

Charvarius Ward willing to help 49ers land Tre'Davious White
The San Francisco 49ers likely aren't finished fortifying their defense and have reportedly expressed interest in bolstering their defensive backfield. If they require assistance making a significant move, one 49ers player is prepared to lend a helping hand.

Ward described White as a "hand in glove
