Sources: Clinton Portis, Redskins over

Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis' release is imminent -- likely tomorrow, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

"I know I got good football left in me," Portis told reporters on Wednesday. "I think being fresh, having been really in the last two years not having a lot of contact, I think the two injuries -- going out with a concussion, and then the torn groin -- was really fluke injuries. I don't think that's a wear and tear, like, 'Oh his body broke down.' I think that was just fluke injuries."

Clinton Portis is to a 2011 team as Brian Westbrook was for the 2010 49ers.
Great, lets get him and McGahee here... Running Back "U" FTW!

I think McGahee would be a legit option. He's a powerful, reliable guy that seems perfect in Harbaugh's run heavy offense. With Dixon and Gore, I doubt we'd spend the money though.

I would rather get the fullback Harbaugh had last year at Stanford. He would be familiar with the system and young. Maybe a 3rd or 4th rounder?

Redskins announced that they have released running back Clinton Portis.
Too bad. I was hoping that we would see somewhat of a return to the Denver Broncos Clinton Portis last season. He likely could be resigned as a low priced FA and is another possibility if we don't bring back Westbrook (IF Portis has any spend left).

Gore/Bush/Clinton.

All-Presidential Backfield.
Those years in Denver and 2/3 years running for Joe Gibbs took the life out of his career. Not sure how much he has left in the tank.
