This is my HS squad. Probably better to make this than to spam the NBA thread. We're 5-7 on the year, which I'm pretty happy about. The year before I took over we were 1-11, with an average margin of defeat of 30.5ppg. Last year we were 2-9 and cut our point differential in half, and this year we're at a -2.5. We closed out our non-conference schedule winning 4 out of 5 games, which is the first time that's happened at the school since 2004. Even more satisfying, this was without my 4 best guys, and my 2 leading scorers from last year. The kids are REALLY growing and showing a more thorough grasp of the game. Tonight I got news that my 2 best players will be back on the team for league & (hopefully) playoffs, and the 3rd & 4th guys probably won't be eligible. This is great news. In non-conference I had a pretty small team that could shoot, but got murdered on the boards (which I share the blame in) and couldn't dribble penetrate. I get my two best rebounders back, and my best dribble penetrator back, which I'm really happy about. Defensively, our 2-3 Zone has been fairly effective, and our 1-3-1 is improving. Our zone press even created some turnovers, but we have a ways to go on the latter two. Two of my guys made all-tournament in one of the tourneys we played, which I'm very proud of. This sucess-story totally reminds me of that one movie with that actor who does things and people cheer; an unforgettable classic, if ever there was one.

Now...I don't know if you remember, but this was the kid whose mom was gonna send him to Atlanta a few months back because she didn't wanna deal with him anymore. He's got a lot of heart, but a lot of emotional problems as well. He's a kid who really means a lot to me, who I'm always gonna look out for.

Anyway...doesn't get anymore pressure packed than this at our level. Down 2. 5 seconds left. At the line, shooting 3. League title on the line.

Ya, High School.

He's not our best FT shooter, but he's who I want at the line in those situations. That kid's been through a lot in life. He's a warrior.

Just champs of our league. Sectional champs would be us winning this bracket. After that are the state playoffs.

No. We've played 25 games this year, and we've had the whole squad for exactly 1 game.

Isaiah...my best player...is 100%.

Ta'zon...my #2 and best big...is healthy, but is a moody b***h who is the emotional equivalent of a 4 year old. He was awful yesterday in terms of effort...in the damn playoffs. We have been all over him in the last 24 hours. I hate saying this about a 17 year old kid, but I can't stand him. But he's our most talented kid and we need him to win games, so it's something we need to manage.

Kobe...my 3rd best player...is healthy, but he didn't play last night because his mom is a goddamn nutcase and held him out because the game was too late. (7pm) I wish I was making this up. Thankfully, I just got word that she'll let him play on Thursday.

Tavis...#4, and best defender...is out for the year with a badly sprained ankle.

I've got some other bumps and bruises, but 5-10 are okay.
