I agree. This Arena at the Downtown Plaza will turn us into a real legit City. The whole "Cow Town" thing is mainly because Arco is near a bunch of nothingness. Well it was for a long time anyway. Natomas has been built up a bit around it but still just looks and feels out of place out there. And no real options out there as far as fun experiences before and after an event at Arco.

I could totally see the NHL coming in the future and who knows, maybe MLB or NFL if another stadium was built at the Railyard site. Don't really want to get ahead of myself but that's how huge this is and needs to happen for Sacramento.

I hate where Arco is right now. I'm not big on driving, or being forced to drive to events. I like to have beer and not worry about driving. There is absolutely NO public transit near Arco. It is surrounded by nothing. Some suburban chain food places maybe, but thats it. The Downtown Plaza site makes too much sense... it would also bleed right onto K Street which has been a conundrum for the city for years.

Yep it would just be awesome. I used to go to those Brewfests a lot, when they were down there at Caesar Chavez Plaza.. we would roll down there on Light Rail and get hammered drunk off of all those different micro brews.. then roll back home drunk as hell on light rail. lol Funny story after one of those Brewfests.. one time riding back on the Light Rail one of my buddies passed out drunk sitting in his seat with his face up against the window glass.. lol and was breathing and snoring so hard on the window that he had created a huge fog all over the window.. it was hilarious.
Kings just released Aaron Brooks.

And to think the Suns traded Dragic for that dude. I hated that trade then, and I hate it just as much now. Thankfully we were able to get the Dragon back!
Burkle Buddy

Aaron brooks was a good dude. He was always joking around and trying to have fun on the bench.

Highlight of his season was in one of his first games he got a tooth or two knocked out. Did play well in a few games though. We basically have a same/better version of him now in Toney Douglas.

Lol that was great when he was missing that tooth. He looked like a legit crack head

And yea Toney Douglas is pretty good. Did well against the magic the other day. But that is the magic. So there's that

Welcome back to the thread.

I'm really concerned about the wealth of the seattle owners. Also, one has to wonder if Henson is involved with some back door politics that would allow the team to move no matter what arena deal Sacramento has in place. I have no proof whatsoever that this is the case. Just a fear that I have.

But from my understanding, Seattle has some definite road blocks in their arena deal, and if Burkle privately fund the arena with AEG or with whomever, Sacramento is a step or two ahead of Seattle in that regard.

I honestly see this going either way: Sacramento keeping their kings or Sacramento getting screwed by Henson's back door politics.
Oh yea, Carmichael Dave tweeted this:

BREAKING: Bob Cook willing to speak to Burkle-Mastrov group to exit bankruptcy, fold shares into ownership group. Talks today.
Significance of that is Hansen group would be undercut, and not have access to Cook auction, eliminating competition for shares.
I have also been informed that Bob Cook also retains first right of refusal clause.

THAT COULD BE HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm very excited about our plan. As has been said, we've done everything asked and established one hell of an ownership team.

Still leery of the BOG vote, should it get that far. The owners don't care about what's right. It's about money and how this affects them. I don't think they like being told who they can or cannot sell to.

However, I think there are things in our favor...

* Burkle seems to hold serious clout. I think he's very well respected among Stern and NBA owners. And I really don't think he wastes his time with this if he doesn't think he can win.
* From a money standpoint, if Sac can put up an offer equal to or damn close to the Seattle offer, it benefits all owners. Sac market is smaller than Seattle. If the Kings are worth $525 mill in Sac, imagine the increased value of every franchise in the league.
* From an ethical standpoint, if ethics ever enter the picture, this can't be the precedent the NBA wants to set. A team does everything asked, provides public money to fund an arena, is supportive of the team, has all finances in order...and loses because of scumbag owners? That's not a good look for the league. Hurts the public perception and could hurt the next time the league needs to ask any market for public funding/sponsorships/etc. Sacramento has jumped through every hoop (twice) and punishing us would be a travesty.
* KJ. Goes without saying we've got the perfect mayor for this. He will have his ducks in a row and you know he'll make a great case in front of the BOG. He has and I'm sure will continue to lobby other owners.

Carmichael Dave also made an interesting point that this Seattle group won't be going away. They will continue to fight for a team, and the NBA sees what they will put up for it. If Sac loses right now, it's hard to imagine Mastrov/Burkle sticking around. Our chances for getting another team would be pretty low. Let the Kings stay at $525 mill and count on Seattle guys going after another team or getting expansion (though I doubt expansion).

I'm still scared. But I really like where we're at.
you all are better than the lakers doe real talk
