Wow a 6 point win and an 11 point win in the so far. I'm worried this team may actually lose.

They keep playing this way and they will lose, maybe more than once. This team couldn't even come close to keeping up with the original dream team. What was Kobe smoking when he said that?!

the fact that talk radio or print media are even still discussing this is just lazy ass journalism. it was never really a debate, and now there's no doubt. if you think this team could beat the dream team, good for you, i don't care cause i don't take your opinion seriously.

Larry Bird admitted the 2012 team would win in a statement:
"I haven't played in 20 years and we're all old now."

that is a fair point, but the dream team would win 8-9/10 games
this team severely lacks size, so the dream team would just have to roll out their big guys and get them the ball on the block and get the 2012 team into some serious foul trouble, then it's over. i think it would be a good game, but honestly the 2008 team would have a better shot against the dream team.

yeah, if you really assembled all the best players today, i think this would be a legitimate question. but as it is, if there was somehow a one off game in a fantasy world, i'd put my money on the dream team every time without thinking twice.
add howard and bynam then i'd still like the dream team, but i think it would be a lot more fair of a fight. the difference would still be the bigs though, bynam's offensive game is getting better, but who knows where his head will be. howard is awful on the offensive end, although having other great players around him would probably make his job easier.

I disagree. Even if you add Bynum and Dwight - the only two players to make it in to that dream team would be Kobe and Lebron. Durant may make it, but it will be tough to take him over Lebron, Pippen, and Bird...and Durant is clearly the 2nd best player in the league today. From the current team, only Lebron will start on the 1992 dream team.
So, it's hard to argue that it was anything but the Golden Age of basketball.

this current team could not beat the original dream team
if you start subbing players on this team, you could probably sub players for the dream team (isiah thomas for laettner).
although, isiah on the dream team may not have been the best idea

I was around during that time and I can tell you that the best players were not there. The team should have had isaiah thomas for stockton and dominique wilkins for chris mullins and shaquille o'neal for laettner and hakeem olajuwon for maybe an older larry bird. now u tell me that bynum and dwight howard could even come close to hakeem and shaw. dominique gives u another 30pt scorer and isaiah was better than both any point guard on this year's team. i know the times and that was an era of basketball unmatched by today's athletes. only prime kobe and lebron would make that team and probably durant
