I can't believe Ninerjohn. Stockholm syndrome FTL.

Lacob's first move was making the David Lee trade/contract extension. Fast forward to this past offseason and he blows FA by offering a deal to Jordan that the Clippers gladly matched. Then he compounds the problem by amnestying Charlie friggin Bell leaving us still on the hook for Andris Biendrins. Then to recoup on that s**tty investment we waste half the season starting that POS which flushed our playoff dreams (faint as they may be) right down the toilet.

And now after guaranteeing playoffs, here we are tanking, only we've waited so long it may be too late which would render this whole exercise worthless. And the big move after all of this was trading Monta AND Udoh for a center that hasn't been healthy in 4 years. Meanwhile Gerald Wallace (the same Gerald Wallace who Lacob said couldn't help our squad, pfft) is fetching a top-5 pick from the Nets, while we are buying a late 1st at the expense of Richard Jefferson's s**tty contract.

I'll just spoil the end now and tell you that Andrew Bogut is going to be a bust. Even if he produces which is far certain considering recent trends, he's going to be 30 by the end of his current deal and looking for big dollars. That just so happens to be the same year Curry is due for an extension. So either we are committing huge dollars to our new "core" in a few seasons or we be rebuilding all over again this time around Klay Thompson and whatever crap they can string together. One thing is for sure we won't have any franchise saving draft picks anytime soon, what with our never ending fascination with NBA purgatory.

Dumbest organization in the league.
That right there encapsulates the Warriors problem. See the look Barry is giving. The guy was a stone cold killer on the court. They haven't had enough of those kinds of guys. Especially recently.

As awesome as Barry was as a player, I'm not sure there's been a basketball player less liked in NBA history than Rick Barry.

And looking at his face in that picture...you can see a little of why.

Plus the fact that he said "and now that that's over with" merely made the boos get stronger.

Don't acknowledge the boos either. Jeez.

It's like he's a beginner at public speaking.

I was thinking the same exact thing. He handled that very poorly.

Read this Ray Ratto article. This guy knows what he's talking about.

And Lacob's only response can be this:

"I know. I know. We haven't gotten it right yet. We got handed a bad situation, but either we misjudged how bad it is or we haven't gotten it all figured out yet. I shouldn't have promised you a playoff, and that's on me. You're entitled to more proof than this, and I get how pissed you are about this.

"In fact, don't be patient with us. We don't deserve your patience. We don't have the right to it, and we won't until we have given you what you really want – a team that can make you proud of its history. I'm glad you booed me instead of Chris Mullin, because he is blameless. And you should keep booing me, and Peter Guber, and all of us, until you stop having to wait for what everybody else gets more often than we've given it to you."

If you watched Michael Jordan's Hall of Fame speech, you realize what a self centered jerk he is. Kobe Bryant obviously isn't winning any popularity contests. Oscar Robertson, Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas. They were all winners because they had that killer instinct.

And yet all the guys you listed were still heavily affiliated with league in one respect or another.

There is a reason why Rick Barry was basically black balled from coaching. It's because he has a very unlikeable personality.

There's a quote about Rick Barry

"Half the players disliked Rick. The other half hated him."

not a warriors fan but I'm pretty disappointed that their fans cant put aside their hatred for the owners to celebrate 2 of their greatest players and show respect to Mullin and Barry on their night. It wasn't about the owners it was about Mullin and Barry and people booed during their jersey retirement, such a classless act.

Great arguments in here from last night. I agree with a lot of what crzy and John said, actually. This Warriors organization has completely pissed me off in the past with some of the dumbest moves you can think of. I'm still up in the air about the current trade, but if this FO was really serious about making a playoff push, they would've just kept the roster for the rest of the season and start trading people during the draft. Monta Ellis may still have netted the team Bogut or maybe someone else or draft picks if we actually did make the playoffs. As fans, we all know the FO decided to tank it. Still proclaiming that the team was still aiming for the playoffs just spits at our intelligence. You don't trade your best player for an injured center that's out for the year when you're three games out of a playoff seed and still expect to make it somehow. That, right there, is obvious tanking.

Unless tickets are free, I won't be going to a Warriors game for now. It's just too frustrating to watch and I refuse to throw my money away like that, especially for a roster as flawed as the one we currently have.

About the fans, I think they're as stupid as most Raider fans. The booing last night was completely classless. This was a night for Chris Mullin, a legend for the Warriors and one of the best to ever play the game. It was a historic night for him to get that #17 retired and hung up. All the fans cared about was Lacob and making sure he hears how they feel. They forgot all about Mullin. Or maybe the majority of fans now are too young to even appreciate Chris Mullin. It was just disrespectful, difficult to watch, and it's really something when legends like Barry, Attles, and Thurmond were real disappointed in the fans. I was one of the biggest Monta supporters in here, but no way no how would I take part in a boofest that ruined the jersey retirement ceremony.

The fans showed Mullin plenty of appreciation. They booed Lacob and they were justified.

The Warriors organization and not the fans are responsible for this debacle for four reasons.
1) They decided to host a jersey retiring ceremony after they've acknowledged that their season is over.
2) Their owner loves to hear himself talk and decided to interject himself needlessly in the proceedings, despite his obvious lack of public speaking skills.
3) Their owner and coach boasted that this team would make the playoffs this year and now have egg on their face.
4) The Warriors have no future.

Mullin got plenty of love.

And the Warriors fans picked a perfect oppurtunity to show Lacob their dissasfaction with his incompetence.
