Quote:
Eddie DeBartolo, the former 49ers owner, has said that Tressel's "steady" demeanor and knack for relating to young men reminded him of Hall of Fame coach Bill Walsh.

That has been Tressel's strength.

Do you think if more shady stuff is found out through the SI investigation that the NCAA does some SMU death penalty-esqe actions to The Ohio Sucks University? I wouldn't shed any tears if they lost all there scholarships for two years.

No, that would never happen to a school like OSU. SMU got that because they were SMU. Now Boise State? They'd drop the hammer. Even still I doubt you ever see the death penalty again. OSU generates entirely too much money to get anything more than something like USC got, lose a few scholarships, a few bowl games, and some TV. A program like OSU can easily survive that for a couple of years.

You never know. Before 1987 SMU was actually a storied football program, dominating there conference and giving us such things as the Pony Express backfield and Doak Walker, but you're probably right, I don't see any slush funds or OSU alumni paying players. Although Prior having eight cars in three years is a little suspicious.

The sad thing is people are dumb enough to believe every school isn't doing this.
The Spygate thing a few years back really exposed sports fans' ignorance to reality.
