I wouldn't say a joke, but the down side of 5 star guys is they are often less coachable and don't work as hard. See Texas last year, loaded with 4 and 5 star guys. I'd rather have one or two and a bunch of guys with a chip on their shoulder.

I think that a lot of the 5 star guys just really aren't 5 star guys. You bring up a great point though. The most gifted tend to be harder to coach. However their talent still usually puts them above those that they are superior to. I think it's a solid mixture of both. But these rankings are inflated, but not a joke. There are only 2 5 star recruits in the super bowl.
