I personally think he is a spy for the seahawks. Don't like it!

And if we start 0-5 everybody on NT will start claiming he's the rat.

am I NT?
With his years of WCO experience, Crabtree, Morgan, et al can learn a lot from Engram. I see this a another good hire...now all we need is a reliable QB to chuck it to 'em. I have faith Baalke & Harbaugh will find the QB's...I'd like to start over with a completely clean slate of 'em. Forget Alex, forget Troy, definitely forget Carr. Time for fresh blood...

Engram's strong rapport with Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck would become a natural storyline if San Francisco pursued Hasselbeck in free agency

John Morton = Coached Jerry Rice

Bobby Engram = Played with Jerry Rice

Bobby Engram-Not Jerry Rice

Because he doesnt want to be told what to do, he has to start as an entry level coach.

I was caught a bit offguard when it was first announced, but Bobby Engram seems a reasonable guy to go straight from playing to positional coach.

He was no Jerry Rice, but in some ways, he was of the same mold. He wasn't particularly gifted with speed, size, strength, or anything else (compared to other NFL players that is), but had his head in it. He worked hard, studied hard, and played hard and so managed to carve out a nice career. His work ethic and attention to detail allowed him to outplay men with superior natural ability. Many players who find success are unable to maintain the humility it takes to be a great student of the game, which is one of the reasons many good coaches had less than stellar playing careers. Engram has the makings of a player turned coach, but unlike many other coaches, he actually managed to have a pretty good career playing as well.
