Are you serious? Like a Pete-blog?
How come no one offered that for the Giants site.
Something like that. Over the last few minutes I thought of a section called "Triangle Offense 101", where maybe I could explain different elements of the triangle on a weekly basis, and perhaps scouting reports on each player as well. It might give the site some unique content that might attract people to the site. And I'd love to write on the state of the team and whatever over pertinent topics pop up throughout the season.
I watch the Lakers and basketball as a whole obsessively anyway, so I'd be happy to help a friend in the process. Lemme know, man.
You are more qualified than I. The same article section that exists on the Webzone is running that site as well. It is just not listed on the front page because there are no writers. I can get that all set up for you as long as you are not worried about only having a few readers initially until word gets out.
That'd be great. If you don't mind, I'll probably be using this thread to run ideas by you and ask questions. I'd very much like to be heavily involved in this.
Here's my basic idea for the hypothetical "Scouting Reports", in terms of content. The strengths/weaknesses/current role section is the brief version. I could go into MUCH more depth, but I think we'd be losing the reader if we we're too verbose. Also, I'm not good at formatting, so I'll defer to you on that.
Shannon Brown
Primary Position: Shooting Guard
Secondary Position: Point Guard
Height: 6'3 1/2"
Weight: 205
Age: 25
Contract Status: Signed through 2010-11 season, $2,400,000 Player Option for 2011-12
Strengths:
-Explosive leaper
-Above average speed for the SG position
-18 to 20 foot jump shot off the dribble
-Ability to defend bigger PGs (Billups, Kidd, Westbrook, etc.)
-Knocks down open 3 pointers with regularity
-Staying with the ball-handler on the pick and roll
Weaknesses:
-Ball handling
-Decision making
-Below average understanding of proper triangle reads, leading to bad spacing
-Staying with shooters as they use off the ball screens
-Limited court vision
-Hitting contested jump shots
-Streaky shooter
Current Role with Lakers:
Brown is relied upon as "instant offense" off of the Laker bench, providing a perimeter scoring threat that no other reserve can match. Coach Jackson likes using him in conjunction with Steve Blake and Matt Barnes as part of a quicker, fast break oriented lineup that focuses on creating turnovers. Playing almost exclusively at the SG position, he will normally get between 16-22 minutes of action, allowing Kobe Bryant to play his fewest minutes since the 97-98 campaign.
Career Highs:
Points: 27 (vs. Golden State, 2/16/10)
Rebounds: 11 (@ San Antonio, 12/28/10)
Assists: 6 (vs. Charlotte, 2/3/10)
Steals: 4 (2 times)
Blocks: 2 (8 times)
3 Point Field Goals Made: 5 (vs. Chicago 11/23/10)
