jrg wants a ton for Rasmus because he knows deep down theres a chance Pujols doesnt re-sign, and it scares him to death. he could get alot more on the open market, and its looking more and more by the day that he may be open to leaving STL if he cant get the deal him and his agent are looking for.

You Giant fans are hilarious

hey now, dont group me in with that guy.

Yeah, my bad..there are actually a lot of awesome Giant posters here...but...really?

Lol

Niners99...read up on the internet. Pujols has made it clear he is going to retire a Cardinal. Rasmus has nothing to do w/ that. Rasmus will never be able to put up the #'s and fill the void so to say that Pujols would leave...so I don't know where you got that. Rasmus is one of the better young players in the league. Has nothing to do w/ Pujols.

I simply said that Sanchez and Rasmus were equal value. I do believe that. I also dont think the Cards would make the trade. I dont see them dealing a bat right now for another SP. As to Pujols... I would be SHOCKED if he goes anywhere. I believe the Cards will do whatever it takes to sign him.

i agree with both of you. i think Pujols will probably stay, but theres always that chance he leaves. i think Cards fans dont all get that if the Yankees say "hey Albert, whatd they offer you? 180 mil? hows 260 sound?" hes not going to say "keep your money! STL is my home!"

in the end a hometown discount can only be so much. id like to see Albert stay in a Cards uniform. the Yankees buying everyone sucks for baseball. i just think the whole Cleveland/Lebron attitude of "he'll never leave us. this is his home." is a naive mistake.

we'll see.

Last I checked the Yankees had Mark Texeira so I doubt they would go crazy on an offer to Pujols. My guess is Boston would be the most likely team to present any threat to STL. Pujols is going to get a deal at least 200 Million for 7 years and possibly higher. I still think Pujols will never even become a FA.

i dont think position is going to hold the Yankees bottomless pockets back from bidding on this generations greatest hitter. they can move Tex to DH if needed.

Right. They are going to put the best fielding 1b of the last 20 years as their DH.

and Pujols is also a GG caliber 1B. they wouldnt be losing defense. i cant believe im having an argument about why theres a chance the Yankees would go after Albert Pujols...

I doubt the Yankees go after Pujols....BUT, Tex has struggled since he's been with NYY. He's done little in either postseason he's played in, and if the Yanks don't win the WS next year, heads could roll.

James is right You are hilarious. Course I have known that for awhile. The Yankees are not going to have 400 million dollars tied up in 2 first basemen. I dont care how much they like Pujols. That wont happen. There is a little thing like pitching and 7 other positions that have to be addressed.

As to Texiera's defense.. the only guy who compares during that era in my opinion is Don Mattingly. JT Snow was also damn good. OK. I will go with one of the top 3 defensive first baseman in the last 20 years then if that makes you feel better. All you have to do is watch some Yankee games to understand how many errors he saves Arod and Jeter.

You think that averaging 40 homeruns and 115 rbi is stuggling? Oh.. by the way he was the MVP runnerup last year for the Yankees when they won the World Series. Yep.. some real sturggling.

He's struggled coming out of the gate the last 2 years. This past year he didnt get going till July. Sure in the end, the numbers are there...but are they helping the team? His BA this past year was a career worst. Ask any Yankee fan what they think of Tex and they'll tell you how great his glove is but that he piles on he can and does little in big spots.

and you say "the Yankees arent going to have 400 mil tied up in two 1B" as if they give a crap about money? when the time comes, the Yankees will be at least somewhat interested no matter how much they spent on Tex. theyre the Yankees.

they currently have contracts of 275 mil, 189 mil, 180 mil, 161 mil, 82.5 mil, 52.4 mil, 45 mil, 30.3 mil, and 26.8 mil on their roster. a couple are falling off here soon, but the Yankees CLEARLY dont give a crap about having alot of money tied up. Tex has had injury issues, and when the best hitter in baseball becomes available, they will be interested. how much? who knows, but they will.

First of all batting average is overrated for a power hitter. Like I said, the guy was runnerup MVP last season when the Yanks won it all. I just cant believe that one can be an MVP runnerup and drive in 230 runs in 2 years and "do little in big spots".

Yes they have big contracts for players at different positions. Like I said, they arent going to put the best defensive 1b in baseball at DH as you so ridiculously suggest nor put 400 million into the first base spot. Hal Steinbrenner is not his Dad and I dont see that happening at all. Time will tell but I would bet my house that Pujols never ends up in NY.

You keep bringing up 2 years ago but hes regressed since then. Also he's had another poor postseason.

Look, I'm not saying he sucks. My point is if he regresses next season I don't wonder if they try to move Tex. I don't think they would, but it is the Yankees.

No. I am bringing up last season as in 2009. Sure he didnt have the kind of season in 2010 that he did in 2009. It isnt easy having an MVP type year every year. He still hit 33 homers and drove in 108 runs. In this non roid era those are still excellent numbers. Anyway, I dont see Tex being moved anytime soon nor Pujols in pinstripes.

Injured again.
