Lebron's new "edgy" commerical

Yeah I don't really think it's "ballsy". All he does is complain and reminisce(probably spelled wrong) about some of his mistakes, but then acts like he didn't make them and he could do whatever he wants to do because he's "not a role model" and "he can be a villain". It's an attempt to make people think it's ballsy but it's just a combination of a talented spoiled whiny athlete and marketing from Nike. Not really that ballsy. He can do whatever he wants but just as he's not a role model, the rest of us don't have to like him whether he is a role model or not and we can be annoyed by him whether he's a role model or not.

Maybe we have different opinions on what is ballsy in a Nike commercial.

Reenacting The Decision, which was vilified, is ballsy. Clowning two basketball legends, MJ, is ballsy. Addressing all the haters is ballsy.

Who else does that? Maybe ballsy was the wrong word because you are thinking of him doing something WAY over the top which he isn't going to do. I meant ballsy relatively speaking. Most guys that have been a top superstar want to stay as PC as possible with their commericials, advertising, etc.

It's a marketing ploy by Nike. You're tripping if you think Lebron came to Nike and said "I have this great idea for a commercial that's going to fix my rep. Here's the script". More like Nike said "Show up here and say this".

How the heck did he clown MJ and Barkley? Clowning Barkley? Last time I checked Chuck didn't win a title and neither has Bron, plus Chuck is more likeable and is atleast brutally honest. LeBron makes fun of him by eating a doughnut? So what? A lot of people like doughnuts. Otherwise krispy kreme wouldn't exist. And he clowns MJ's hall of fame speach? So what? If he wants to try to clown Jordan in real life, all MJ has to do is say scoreboard and hold up his hands with his 6 rings. All MJ said was he's too competitive to have joined up with Magic and Bird, he didn't even diss LeBron like Barkley did but LeBron's mad at the guy who was supposedly his idol? Give me a friggin break, all this is is a spoiled whiny athlete getting mad at anyone who didn't agree with him combined with Nike's marketing. There's nothing ballsy about that.

I don't understand why anyone is saying it's ballsy. It's not anything that hasn't been done before.

It's another version of this commercial by Jordan. Nike has done this a million times.

The reason I like it, isn't because it's "ballsy," I just think it portrays Lebron in a pretty good light.

It's excellent, it's blunt, straight to the point.

Just quit being an a*****e Lebron and play basketball, listen to the Nike marketing geniuses, and he'll be fine.

He did ruin his legacy though. Lebron could win 10 titles with the Heat and he'll never be considered the GOAT. But whatever.

Of course, but he could have declined. He isn't a genius, but he knew this would be a little controversial and he did it anyway. Every commercial is a marketing ploy.

You're the one that started a thread about it.

Well, Lebron's career is far from over so lets hold on to all the talk of the rings.

Yes, he clowns MJ and Barkley. No player clowns MJ, nobody. I'm not sure what your point is. I'm not saying he is braveheart. The commercial is controversial. Maybe I shouldn't have used the word ballsy.

A lot of pro athletes are spoiled and whiny. People hate Lebron now and this commercial rubs it in a little. That's all I'm saying.

You got to laugh at Nike

They're going to play up the Lebron villian talk. Reminds me of a WWE heel turn

I know, what's your point? It's an interesting commercial, that's why I started it. I don't mind marketing ploys. I'm not running out of my house to buy Nikes because of the commercial.

sacniner, you clearly misunderstood the commercial.

There was absolutely no reference to Jordan in the commercial.

The Hall of Fame ceremony where nobody shows up was in reference to all the people who are saying that Lebron ruined his legacy and that no one will show up to his HOF ceremony.
Who cares? He got paid to make it right? So it was a smart business move. You guys are reading too much into it. Offseason must really be boring for some of you. LOL. Just remember $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...and you will understand...
