What happened to the defense for the US? I know the Netherlands are good, but it just seems like they aren't together on the defensive end.
Also, they're definitely missing Davies and Dempsey this game. There's not really anyone who stands out as a possible replacement for Davies, does that mean we have to change playing style?
On a side note, how did Ghana and Ivory coast lose?

I heard he won't get it in time before the final selection.

Well, a 2-1 loss isn't what I'd call ideal, but hopefully this allows the coaches to figure out what we need to do without Davies (thank goodness Dempsey will be back by world cup).
I don't think Findley will be the player, though I'm curious if they might contemplate moving Beasley to Striker to fill in for Davies since he does have speed?

Not the biggest fan of the Swiss, not to mention they lost to Turkey and the Czech republic in Euro Cup at HOME as well.
Of course France will advance (especially since they get to use their hands when they play), and agree uruguay will snag the 2nd seed. Mexico looks good on paper, but outside of Azteca this year has been horrendous. South Africa will prolly lose every game.
Group A will most likely end up like this:
- France sweeps
- South Africa will lose all three (1-0 to mexico, 3-1 to uruguay, 2-0 to france)
- uruguay will tie with mexico
- Uruguay advances on total goals, 5 to 3 over mexico
just my 2 cents, though I'd prefer for mexico to advance

Don't count on it. Mexico hasn't played any team of real substance or in a hostile atmosphere since Aug 12, 2009 vs USA. and that was in Mexico.

Whens the last time mexico was dropped in the first round? 1978 right?

If mexico plays competent futbol, I can see them beating Uruguay, an upset or tie with France isn't farfetched either. Or they could lay an egg and lose all three matches.
You never know with this team. One day they can beat Brazil, the next day they'll get whooped by El Salvador.
