Just like I called it close until the last 2 mins, then we run out of offensive options.
Yeah Pete I have flown down the 15 at 5:30 am and got to vegas in 2.5-3hrs from LA.
I hate your team. I mean that with a ton of respect attached to it. I just know that whenever we play you guys, I'm going to be cussing at the TV. I pray to God you don't get Wade. He's exactly what you need.
Actually, if you guys got Wade, it would lead to some epic WCFs, so yeah...I hope you do get him.
No one wants to go to Houston... Let's be honest.
You don't know much about Houston apparently. They've always attracted top FAs going back to Scottie Pippen, Also, about 60% of all athletes seem to have an off season home there, likely due to the fact it's cheap for a lot of land and no state tax. Some athletes are actually more concerned with being athletes than celebrites.
Yeah so they go to places where they will actually win rather than places they wouldn't. Let's be honest for a minute, The Rockets won't be winning anything significant anytime soon. So why even go there? You don't have to live in the same place where you play. They are hardly home in the first place.
You have to be the biggest homer ever. Anyone who watches the NBA can see Houston is and has been a winning franchise for the better part of 30 years. They have a winning record right now with one of the youngest squads in the league and no superstar and a GM who drafts as well as anyone has in years. The current team took last year's champ to 7 games while losing it's star midseason. You don't think a star player would want to go to that situation, rather than go to a team that already has an established pecking order? You said no one would want to go and got a reply with a list of FAs who have been some of the best players of the last 20 years, thus disproving your statment.
Case in point: didn't Houston just land a young up and coming FA from LA just 6 months ago?
More like a Texan's homer point of view. I can see a lot of truth in that post, but there are a couple of stretches, too. The current team did not take last years champs to 7 games. It was broken up in the offseason. Your biggest superstar is currently on the Lakers as our 3/4/5th best player, basically switched out for an up and comer who is struggling big time. And some of the best players of the last 20 years? Who? McGrady? Yeah, you guys are all in love with him. Scottie Pippen? Child please. Where'd that get you? I'll give you clyde and barkley, but they went there to play with The Dream, and there isn't a player even half the caliber on that squad now.
You guys are playing well right now, but do you really think that this is going to last throughout the whole season and into a deep playoff run? Artest isn't going to be there to bail you out when Yao fails to help your team again. I hardly think that the role player you guys have in Ariza is going to lead your team anywhere. I mean, I love the guy for what he did for us, but he's not that type of player.
Good game last night, though.
Barkley, Pippen, MCgrady, Clyde, Artest weren't great players at the time? How many other teams have acquired that kind of talent they didn't draft? And Artest wasn't really that great for us in last year's playoffs, it was a team effort and if anything Brooks was the difference in the games we won. As far as this year, no one was expecting anything, for us to be where we are just means we're ahead of schedule. No one thinks Ariza will carry the team, but he has hardly dissapointed, a 25 year old posting career highs in every catagory I would consider a pretty good signing, and it didn't take much loot to do it.
Brooks, Ariza, Landry is a pretty nice and very young core, with Budinger showing signs is a pretty good base. Not to mention Scola, Battier and Hayes (maybe the best low post defender in the league). Wait till we get that star and see how good this team will be.
I basically addressed all the points you mentioned. My point is you are making it out to be like Houston is a players dream place to play, when it clearly is not.
The dream place for every player to be is.............well.........yeah, don't make me say it.
