Yes. And the worse the line gets the worse the QB play will get. Because he isn't being given time. I don't unde why NT is riven with arguments as to whether the fault lies with the line or the QB. It's both, together. It's fixable, though. But the line will have to become stable.

This. I would love to see the the list of QB's "better" than Kap that manage rack up passing yards while taking 5-8 sacks per game. Kap isn't perfect, but I would say he's a top-15 QB now and could easily get better if our line and play calling didn't suck.

Last year we had no WRs and this year the OL is stinking up the joint. Everybody wanted to get paid but they obviously put themselves before the team in the case of VD and Boone because right now I don't see the big money production on the field and this is disappointing. Ain't nothing wrong with guys getting paid but I am disappointed that we have a lot of money tied up in QB TE OL and then we can't get a competent offense on the field and a lot of this falls on Roman as well. All of our guys need to step up and help Vic Fangio and the defense for a change!

Well, you could spin that both ways. Luck throws for more yards because he has to. Indy's running game is average at best and their defense sucks. If they were able to run the ball effectively and keep the other team off the field, he wouldn't be throwing as much. Not hard to figure out.

Secondly, it really isn't fair to compare any young QB in the game right now to Luck because he already looks to be a once in a generation kind of player. He has already proven that he's far and away the best player of his draft class. EVERYONE is going to look bad in comparison to him.

Post me a game of any qb putting up goods stats vs. 8 sacks and I'll listen to complaints about his play. He's putting up respectable numbers with the heat he gets. Most seasons would be over with an o-line playing like this. Kap creates time and space. Sometimes in the pocket sometimes outside. He's hiding some of the s**ttiness of this lines pass pro. He holds the ball a a second or two long every 15-20 passes and makes a bad decision every 30-40 passes. His numbers aren't gonna wow anyone but, no one will put up top 10 stats in this offense as far as yard totals and tds.

That is the sad thing....SF has no HFA. I saw so many empty seats yesterday (watched on TV). And there were other posters who were at the game that said people were on their phones rather than cheer the team when it mattered.

Maybe being in Santa Clara has put a hex on this team.

#1 this thread is a steaming pile of s**t; Kap has looked good to great whenever the Oline gets around to blocking, however that is on the rare side,blocking good that is. Roman blows, it's total confusion now, he MUST go.

Finally the above and other comments are spot on if you can believe it the Field of pants is getting worse game by game, it is a soulless venue that took the place of one full of soul. Kap / Oline stunk up the place... those that did not evacuate were stuck to their seats from crapping their pants. Fans paying hard earned money to see what they thought was a franchise QB... that's a damn shame.

These people are going to the bar at half time and many, many don't go back to their seats, they go home. Can't be bothered to watch and be near slobbering rabid Niner fans that for sure will come down to those empty seats if no one comes back by the 3rd Q. There is something very telling happening in televise home games that started after the opener where announcers commented on the empty stands for a hom eopener, and it is this; they are not panning the lower bowl between the 20s any more, it damn embrassing and I'm sure the NFL aint to happy. Notice at the Lmabs game they only showed the endzones where some actual hard-core Niner fans could affo9rd seats. Not to say there aren't some in the lower bowl, but few there.

They can only show the endzones now @ Jeds house of $$$ if they want to show fan participation on a section wide level. Some sad damn s**t...

I hate to say it, but they deserve every second of it. They abandoned a loyal fan base in favor of sexy silicon valley money.

No reason to hate. It is true. Those tickets between the 20s are owned by businesses for the most part who give the tickets away to clients who may or may not be fans. They certainly don't value the experience the same way since it was free.

Good O-Line = Good Kap

My problem with Kap is that he's a gunslinger. And personally I don't like gunslingers (so therefore I'm biased against Kap).

Gunslingers are gamblers, plain and simple. There's no killer instict, there's no foward thinking. It's just, "let's throw the dice and see what happens". Because of this, there's only 2 levels of play: the, "amazing! Did you see that!?! Omg!" & "holy fricken crap! What was that?!"

Assuming Kap stays healthy and can play for 20 years, he'll end up like Farve: winning the SB once and throwing a pick 6 in a playoff game as his last perfossianal throw in the NFL.

So is he the guy?

I really dont' know, some weeks he looks like a star, some weeks he looks like he should be playing in Canada. I watched Andrew Luck last night and that looked like real quarterbacking. I want Kap to succeed, but some of his throws, his reads, lack of touch, how he takes off running instead staying in the pocket. Watching Luck deliver passes while being hit, you can't tell me Kap is doing these things on a consistent basis. You can't blame the line and Roman for everything, the kiid has to keep his composure.

The fact is people want stats. That's all im hearing. Luck can't be compared to Kap. Two reasons, different offense and different workload. Luck throws more int, but will get more yards and more tds because of how much he throws. Kape has had a great int/td ratio his entire career. He's a bit of a gunslinger but, he's normally good at taking car of the ball. He has been consistently putting up 200+ yard games with a lack of a consistent run game or peotection. He's improving on last year with more work from the pocket and there will be a learning curve. My biggest problem is it looks like they handcuffed his feet. He hesitates when there are open lanes and they close.

Add up every game he's started in...it's more than what you are implying.

39 games. And if you look at his starts as a whole it's pretty good.

This should be tabled until next year. Kap is not going anywhere in 2015. I believe the Niners have an out after next season. Until then, this is a moot point.

And I think he is good enough to take us to the promised land. Watching last night's game reminded me how a porous offensive line affects the QB. Luck had some terrible throws, both inaccurate and nearly picked, yet he is still a stud (according to most). When Kap has a few bad throws, apparently he is terrible...? When a QB is under duress every single play, it is going to affect timing, accuracy, and decision making. Anyone who doesn't see that doesn't belong in the conversation.

Get real. the offensive strategy and workload has nothing to do with, luck is just clearly a superior passing quarterback. if Colin could do those types if things, i guarantee you we would run a different offense. Colin is middle of the road as a passer, if that.

Who ever thinks Kap is a way better QB then Luck is out of their mind. When its all set & done Luck will be in the HOF while Kap will be a career back up in about 5 or 6 years.

It's too early to tell if he's the "right guy."

The guy has been off an on.. This is only his 2nd full season. 2nd. It's getting clear that Harbaugh is putting him out there and seeing what he can do. Kap hasn't sucked, just hasn't played like the fantasy superstar most NFL fans expect to see out of him. The loss to the Rams was more on the O-line than it was on Kap. He had guys in his face before he could complete a 3 step drop... that's unacceptable. Don't overreact.
