BJ Daniels will have to be cut or put on the practice squad for Seattle. We should bring him back and cut the rest.

Might be a slight chance with Terrell Pryor too.

Well be it Pryor or BJ, someone will get cut that's for sure. Be it BJ or Pryor, I will take one of them over all of our current back-ups.
Since we're on the hook for the 2M I see JH working and working to get Gabbert better. Whether he can rise to the occasion is doubtful.

I see JH/Trent scouring the FA & roster cuts for something better.
Mayo, more exactly, we are stuck with Gabbert's contract, not gabbert. He can get schidt canned anytime. Even that isn't true, in that it is remotely, REMOTELY, possible, we could trade him and his contract. But the buyer of that deal would have to be checked for insanity. Still....there are some dim bulbs out there.

Here's the real stickler tho. We haven't established squat with backup qbs. Pick one out of a hat right now would be better than anything, I guess. Because now, game 3 , is the traditional game where we go with our starter, say 2, maybe 3 qtrs., to get him on the beam. Again, traditionally, the starter generally gets no playing time in game 4.

Here's another fuh cup. By having a wing and a promise at backup Qb, we have not gotten to see how the bubble players can play, with 3 and outs, one after another. You can believe this is NOT the way JH envisioned PS games. There are lot of guys we need to choose between but because of our total failure at QB, those guys also are not getting game evaluations. Another fuh cup.

Worse, we (I thot) had the best 90 in football. Right now, you get past the first 22 , and we have no idea how most of these guys play, because each group (either O or D) has 1 or 2 guys that have no business out there, yet are still on the team. Cuts are coming soon, but if I had a choice, I would cut all the dead wood I could immediately, so we can see how the bubble guys play. Unfortunately on O, if a guy isn't playing with Kap and the starting OL, we have no idea what they can do. Our reserve QBs have been that bad.

Then there is the D. It is making evaluation of individuals difficult to impossible because of a raw guy playing next to a bubble guy and the raw guy makes the bubbler look awful, when maybe he isn't. Right now I think the best thing for JH and trent would be to cut all guys with no chance, and play guys on the bubble with 1st string....then see how they do. This has been the most screwed up PS in memory, and mainly due to qb play that is just way, way beyond bad. If gabbert gets another shot in next game, then kap is getting cheated out of some necessary work he needs with the starters. LIke I said earlier, trent is burning up the wires trying to find a waiver guy who could come in and run the team.

Actually we had him, Colt McCoy. He never was going to take us to the SB, but he could have won a few games against non elites if kap had a 3 or 4 week injury. Now we apparently got squat...either that or my eyesight is failing. Again, I repeat: Coach made a mistake in blaine, and the living with it is way more difficult than he ever imagined. Aside from ellington, tank, a few DBs, maybe one of our NTs, I am not learning anything about our "depth"...which at present, isn't near what I thot it would be...Qb being at the top of the list.

On the upside, there always seems to be a Qb cut at the last minute, usually by a team trying to sneak a decent QB thru the waiver wire, that we may get.
He's going to get someone killed if he keeps throwing high over the middle. That just opens up the WR's to a rib shot.

That's caused by bad mechanics, not unfamiliarity with the system. Sure, Harbaugh might be able to rehab him in a few years, but he's got to show that he's worth keeping around that long. He's got two games to do that.

Yep, that was something I noticed big time yesterday. Ellington was getting drilled just about every pass. Whether Gabbert was throwing high, into quadruple coverage, or just in a crap spot, Ellington was constantly taking huge hits.

miss lloyd will just duck those throws in my opinion
PTSD One word I can think off when it comes to potentially good QB's who just got drafted and immediately placed in the front lines on a bad team.

I didn't think it applied in football but I guess once you get hit enough times by the opposing teams, you begin to duck every time you see a shadow.

You can correct the mechanics but I'm not sure how Jim Harbaugh is going to get around this one.
I'm praying Kaep stays healthy all year long .... haven't saw any reason to be optimistic about Gabbert, was hoping we'd see some improvement in his game to inspire some confidence in him ....I'm hoping he shows some promise against san diego

He almost did with our new gem Ellington he threw a quick swing pass to him yesterday and right away Ellington got clobbered.

The comments were bad, but not as bad as I was expecting. Still, I haven't seen any glass is half full comments, so here goes...

Last week Gabbert looked like I would have expected someone coming out of the bad situation he was in before: skittish and nervous. He was used to getting knocked around and he looked like he expected to have problems. I figured time would help.

So what happened yesterday? It looked to me like he was too amped up; former qbs will say when their too amped up their passes sail. And in the first half that's exactly what happened. Then in the second half, things changed. I think the first completion was just a little dump off pass, but it was a completion. And that was the first of 4 in a row, and they looked pretty solid even! Then the interception. Yes, deflating for all of us, and Gabbert, too, I'm sure. So, everyone is panicked again.

Of course, it's not good he threw an interception, but last week he didn't go through his reads, he stared down his receiver with a predictable result. But yesterday, his pass was simply behind the receiver. Now after all the passes in the first half were so off (usually high) I can see people being frustrated. But timing doesn't always happen over night, so I'm prepared to watch and wait...at least for one more week!

Dude just needs confidence. I don't doubt he can play, but he has no poise in the pocket and plays scared. Just looks completely shell shocked out there.
