The Niners Mt. Rushmore

Pro Football Talk is planning to roll out each NFL team's Mt.Rushmore. Whoever is picked will represent the four best figures of all-time. For the Niners, the obvious selections would be Montana,Young,Walsh, and Rice. However there are others to consider from Craig to Taylor to Gore to Brent Jones. Even Eddie D! Honestly, I don't think owners should be considered. They are business minded folks who hire GMs to make all the important decisions for them.

"best figures of all time" is hard to define. Does "best" mean most skilled/talented? Or does it mean biggest impact.

My 4 "best" = most skilled/talented (I considered Terrel Owens here based on talent... but a guy like that doesn't belong on any Mt. Rushmore):
Montana, Rice, Gore, Willis

Yes but who do you take off? Montana, best clutch qb, best playoffs qb, best WC offense qb? Lott, possibly the best player on D ever, beating heart of the Niner D, CB and safety? Eddie, maybe the best owner ever?

I hear ya, and it pained me. I just felt offense...and...defense needed representation, along with coaching and ownership.
