It's hard to not go with Montana, Rice, Lott as players.....Walsh if coach included.

Here's someone no one mentioned yet that might deserve consideration:

Dwight Clark

He had his jersey retired like the rest of the list above....

He's not as talented as many others being considered, but I'd have absolutely no problem with him being up there.

Great 49ers player, that wwas involved in some great moments of history, but not worthy of rushmore IMO. Too many guys ahead of him.

You dudes have no idea how much WZ history is in this picture. It truly is quite amazing.

IIRC, there's something like 80+ WZ references in there, from usernames to threads. The picture, itself, originated from the WZ Trial. You can see the original image I used by google image searching "To Kill A Mockingbird." .

PS- I couldn't cover Gregory Peck's face because the look on his face fit seamlessly, IMO.

uh willis over steve young or bryant young or frank gore or roger craig?

not yet....and if its just playres its defintely montana/rice/lott/young
Since there only 4 spots, it's really easy

Montana, Rice, Lott and Walsh

If it were a mountain range the list would include guys like;

Jimmy Johnson
Bob St. Claire
Dave Wilcox (of course, he changed the way the OLB position was played and member of the HOF) (shameless plug for my handle)
Leo Nomellini
Hugh McElhenny
Joe Perry

There are a host of guys on the fringes

Retired guys;

Steve Young
Bryant Young
John Brodie
Forrest Blue
Len Rhode
Brent Jones
Eric Wright
Gene Washington

Current guys

Frank Gore
Patrick Willis

Front Office Guys

Eddie D
John McVay
As of now, my 49er Rushmore would have five face Eddie center with joe and bill on either side with Jerry and Ronnie on the outside
You guys sure about leaving out Dwight Clark:

Young was my favorite 49er growing up but he couldn't get past the Packers. I think when Willis' career is done he'll be right up there with Ray Lewis as an all-time great with multiple super bowl rings

Willis has made the Pro Bowl every year since he was a rookie. Pretty good start.

For me it's Walsh, Eddie D., Rice and Montana. Honorable mentions to Lott,Young, Joe"Jet" Perry and Hugh McElhenny.

No Rice... c'mon man. He may be the best NFL player ever.

I hear ya, and it pained me. I just felt offense...and...defense needed representation, along with coaching and ownership.

Oh heck! Let's put five heads on this thing! Montana - Lott - Rice - Walsh - Eddie

I would almost put Rice on there ahead of both Montana and Young. The reason is because he was great for both of them. The age old question is "who made who?" I think the common denominator is Jerry.

I don't think a case for Jerry "making" Joe can be made. #16 had TWO rings before Jerry joined the team...
