Thanks! I could see the biggest battles between the STs guys. They have picked up a lot of those types.

Would love to see Ian Williams get his shot, I think its time.

I doubt they go 7 OL too risky, other than that, looks fine to me.

I like that list and I agree with it for the most part. When you put it out there on paper, how can you not mark out for a roster that looks like that? Big question is though, if Manningham is ready for the season start then will we carry six receivers? With the substantial pay cut that he took, I doubt they release him.

holy shoot. Missed those 2. Damnit, back to the drawing board, lol.

I like the idea of keeping Fleming as an ILB. It would be nice to have an ILB with pass rush ability for blitzes. And I like what Fleming would bring to the position over Wilhoite or Skuta.

AB, do you really expect them to keep Lockette rather than Williams? Methinks Williams is, at the least, our #1 punt returner.

Also, only 7 OL? I doubt it.

We will either keep Al Netter, the guy we drafted, or sign a veteran FA OT. That will give us 8 OL.... which is still a bit light. I'd take that spot from BJ Daniels. I don't see how he makes the team unless he beats Tolzien or McCoy for a backup spot.

I could also see a guy like Lockette making the roster while Manningham is on PUP.

I debated this and agree that 8 would be a better number, but think they may keep two or three tackles on the PS and cross their fingers. If not, one of the QBs is gone. I doubt Tolzien is gone because he is the only back up with experience in this system. the other two may take a while to learn and digest.

Really hope Asomugha reverts to Raider form and takes the starting job. But I could see a healthy rotation with fresh CBs through out the season--Rogers, Asomugha, Culliver and Brown are all starting caliber CBs so I have no clue who will win the positions in camp. Cox is coming into his fourth season and may also be in the mix. Might turn out to be a very strong backfield helping Reid learn the ropes.

OFFENSE (24 to 26)

Quarterback (3 or 4)
Lock (3): Colin Kaepernick, Colt McCoy and Scott Tolzien
Bubble (0):
Longshot (2): B.J. Daniels and MarQueis Gray

A little intrigue with the two rookies, but in the end I don't think we'll see any upsets here. I think we go with three, and McCoy lands the #2 role after a tough battle with Tolzien.


Running Back (4 or 5)
Lock (4): Frank Gore, Kendall Hunter, LaMichael James, Bruce Miller
Bubble (4): Anthony Dixon, Marcus Lattimore, Jewell Hampton, Will Tukuafu (FB/DE)
Long shot (1): Alex Debniak

Hunter could start the year on the pup list, but he'll be on the roster at some point. Lattimore by all accounts will start the season on the pup list or IR. This is all good news for Anthony Dixon. We keep five and I think he's the 5th.


Wide Receiver (5 or 6)
Lock (4): Michael Crabtree, Anquan Boldin, A.J. Jenkins, Quinton Patton
Bubble (3): Kyle Williams, Mario Manningham, Ricardo Lockette
Long shot (4): Chad Hall, Joe Hastings, Marlon Moore, Chuck Jacobs

The WR depth chart is much like the RB's with much to be determined by health. It sounds like Kyle Williams should be ready for camp, but Manningham is another pup candidate (Is there some sort of pup list limit? I hope not). Lockette has a very good chance to stick until Manningham is ready if we keep six WR's, which I believe we will.


Tight End (3 or 4)
Lock (2): Vernon Davis, Vance McDonald
Bubble (3): Garrett Celek, Cameron Morrah, Demarcus Dobbs (TE/DE)
Long shot (0):

Morrah is OK and Dobbs is versatile, but I don't think we'll need his emergency depth at DE this year (crossing fingers). I'm thinking we keep three and the 3rd will be Celek, who the team seems to be high on.


O-Line (8 to 10)
Lock (7): Joe Staley, Mike Iupati, Jonathan Goodwin, Alex Boone, Anthony Davis, Joe Looney, Daniel Kilgore
Bubble (4): Kenny Wiggins, Carter Bykowski, Al Netter, Luke Marquardt
Long shot (3): Patrick Omameh, Sherman Carter, Wayne Tribue

I think we keep eight. The seven locks plus the best swing tackle candidate, probably coming down to Bykowski, Marquardt, Netter or Wiggins. Sounds like Marquardt might be another pup list candidate with the surgery on the fractured foot on April 18th.



DEFENSE (24 to 26)

D-Line (6 or 7)
Lock (5): Justin Smith, Ray McDonald, Glenn Dorsey, Tank Carradine, Ian Williams
Bubble (2): Quintin Dial, Lamar Divens, Tony Jerod-Eddie

I believe we'll keep six this year with Dial rounding out the group. I believe we only kept five last year considering Dobbs barely saw the field on defense before his injury and Tukuafu was pretty much only used as a blocking FB. Six should be sufficient considering Aldon, Brooks and Lemonier will also be part of the DL rotation on passing downs.


Linebacker (8 or 9)
Lock (7): Patrick Willis, NaVorrow Bowman, Ahmad Brooks, Aldon Smith, Corey Lemonier, Dan Skuta, Parys Haralson
Bubble (4): Darius Fleming, Michael Wilhoite, Nick Moody, Cam Johnson
Long shot (1): Nate Stupar

I think the experienced Haralson is a lock in light of his pay cut, leaving one or two spots for the four on the bubble. My guess is we go with nine including Fleming and Moody.


Defensive Backs (9 or 10)
Lock (8): Tarell Brown, Donte Whitner, Eric Reid, Carlos Rogers, Chris Culliver, Craig Dahl, Trenton Robinson, C.J. Spillman

Unless Thomas and or Morris really surprise, I think Nnamdi and Cox stick on the 53 man. It should be bye bye Brock, unless Nnamdi truly doesn't have it anymore.
